First phone tips ๐Ÿ“ฑ๐Ÿ‘‡

1. Ask about what apps, games or websites they use to help you learn what they enjoy and what worries them. You can use these chats to set boundaries.

2. Explore privacy settings on apps and games with your child. You could look at screen time limits, content filters and set up parental controls.

3. Explain they should never feel pressured, scared or uncomfortable online. They can say no to things and adults are there to help.

4. Let them know they can always talk to you and they wonโ€™t be in trouble.

5. Make online safety part of everyday conversations as they grow to help keep them safe.

โ„๏ธ Winter Walks & Water Safety โ„๏ธ

When itโ€™s cold outside, rivers, canals, and ponds can be extra dangerous. If youโ€™re out walking this winter, remember these simple water safety rules:

๐Ÿšถ Keep back from the edge โ€“ slippery paths can make you fall in
๐ŸงŠ Stay off the ice โ€“ it may look strong, but it can crack easily
๐Ÿ• Keep children and dogs close so they donโ€™t run ahead
๐Ÿšจ In an emergency, call 999
๐Ÿ›Ÿ If you fall in, float on your back and shout for help

Staying safe means everyone gets home warm and happy ๐Ÿ’™

Merry Christmas from everyone at the Coventry School Nursing Team.

We are closed during the bank holiday period.
If over the festive period you need health services please consider:

-Minor injury units and urgent treatment centres, for less-serious accidents and illnesses

- The NHS 111 service, available online or via phone to advise on the best course of action. Patients can often be booked into appointments, including for urgent dental treatment.

-Community pharmacists, who can provide urgent advice and medication for winter ailments and do not need an appointment.

Noticed changes to your teen's sleep pattern? The clinical psychologists share it's normal for teens to want to go to bed later and to sleep in for longer.
Teenage brain development helps us understand why! Melatonin isn't released until around 1am for young people. Knowing this is part of normal development can help as you support your teen to develop healthy sleep habits.
