It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Phillip (Ossie) James, who died peacefully on the 25th of January at Brocastle Care Home, surrounded by his loving family.

Beloved husband of Barbara, devoted father of Deborah and Sarah, and a cherished grandfather and great-grandfather, Phil will be remembered for his warmth, kindness, and the love he shared with those around him.

A service and celebration of Phil’s life will be held at:
The United Free Church (Ramoth), Cowbridge
Friday, 20th February at 12 noon

Position: Part-time / On-call
Start Date: Immediate

We are seeking a reliable, friendly & compassionate Funeral Director’s Assistant / Driver to join our team on an on-call basis. This role is essential in supporting funeral services and providing dignified care to families.

Key Responsibilities:
• Assisting Funeral Directors during funerals and related services
• Driving funeral vehicles, including hearses, limousines and private ambulances
• Acting with care, professionalism, and respect
• Supporting families and mourners in a discreet and courteous manner
• Being available on-call, including evenings, nights, weekends, and public holidays

Requirements:
• Full, clean driving licence
• Professional appearance and respectful manner
• Strong reliability and punctuality
• Ability to remain calm and composed in sensitive situations
• Good physical health (role may involve lifting)
• Flexibility to work on short notice
• Previous experience in funeral services is an advantage, but not essential (training provided)

Brenda Dwek, a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, warmth, and unwavering family devotion. She will be remembered for her generous spirit, gentle smile, and unwavering strength that touched the lives of all who knew her.

Brenda’s family was at the center of her world. She cherished every moment spent with her children, welcomed each grandchild with open arms, and adored her great-grandchildren who brought joy to her later years. Her home was a haven of laughter, kindness, and comforting wisdom, where stories were shared, and memories were made.

Her life was a testament to care, resilience, and grace. She faced every challenge with quiet dignity and offered support to others with a generous heart. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched and the values she instilled in her family.

A funeral service to celebrate Brenda’s life will be held on Saturday, 7th February at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Church, Cowbridge. Family and friends are invited to attend and share in the memory of a remarkable woman whose love will be cherished forever. The family would be grateful if guests wear a splash of colour to celebrate Brenda’s vibrant spirit.
Following the funeral service everyone will be invited to the Bear Hotel for some refreshments and to further share some memories of Brenda’s life.

May she rest in peace, and may her memory be a blessing to all who knew her.

Laurence Reid, a devoted husband, loving father, and proud grandfather, passed away on Monday 8th December 2025.

Laurence will be remembered with deep affection for his steadfast love of family, his kindness, and the quiet strength he brought to those around him. He leaves behind many who will miss him dearly and cherish the memories they shared.

A funeral service to celebrate Laurence’s life will be held Friday 9th January at Holy Cross Church, Cowbridge, at 1:00 pm, followed by burial at Llanmihangel Church.

Laurence will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered always.
