getactiveabc is the umbrella brand for the Health and Recreation department in Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council and offers a unique mix of health and fitness activities, memberships, water sports, snow sports, dry land activities, golf and swimming. Our nine indoor leisure facilities comprise Orchard Leisure Centre, Banbridge Leisure Centre, South Lake Leisure Centre, Gilford Community Centre, Dromore Community Centre, Rathfriland Community Centre, Richhill Recreation Centre, Tandragee Recreation Centre and Keady Recreation Centre. Our outdoor facilities comprise Craigavon Golf & Ski Centre, Kinnego Marina, Kinnego Bushcraft Centre, Loughgall Golf & Country Park, South Lake Watersports, Gosford Forest Park, Clare Glen Caravan Park, Ardmore Recreation Centre, Cathedral Road Recreation Centre as well as a host of parks and open spaces including Lurgan Park, Palace Demesne, Solitude Park, Banbridge, Dromore Park, Portadown Peoples Park and Craigavon City Park incorporating Tannaghmore Gardens and Animal Farm. Our Sports Development team carry out a varied programme of activities throughout the year to get everyone active, moving and outdoors across Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon. The team also provides an important link to governing bodies of sport and Sport NI and is the ‘go to’ for all sports persons from grass roots to elite athletes in the local area. The team is responsible for delivering the Sports Forum, funding for clubs, education courses, schools programmes, sport and exercise programmes for the public and the annual Sports Awards ceremony. This workshop is aimed primarily at Designated Safeguarding Children’s Officers within sports clubs. The training will provide further understanding to assist in their role of safeguarding children in sport.

Attendees must have attended the Safeguarding Children and Young People in Sport training prior to attending this workshop and must be over 18 years of age.

They've only gone and done it 👏👏👏

Great friends of getactiveabc and local squash legends Nick Rusk, Rory Canavan and Peter McNiece competed in Squash Ireland's Irish Masters National Championships in Dublin and all came out on top. They have now been announced on the Irish teams 🏆🤩

Nick has qualified for the Men's Over 65s in Cardiff on 8th & 9th May while Rory and Peter will be in Nottingham on 17th & 18th April in the Men's Over 35s.

No mean feat guys and we wish you best of luck🤞🤞🤞

Tickets are now on sale for the Lord Mayor’s Easter Trail and Fun Day! 🐰🌸🐣

Hosted by Lord Mayor Alderman Stephen Moutray, the cracking event will take place on Thursday 2 April from (1-4pm) at Tannaghmore Gardens.

Little ones can enjoy an Easter egg trail, bouncy castle, face painting, fun games, archery and plenty of egg-citing surprises – the perfect way to kick off the Easter holidays!

Also, NI Resources Network’s Pop Up Repair Café will be there to offer bike repairs, tool and appliance fixes, knife sharpening, furniture and lamp repairs, sewing machine and watch support, plus gardening advice. Those using Repair Café services only do not need an event ticket!

Tickets are £6 per child (adults do not need to purchase a ticket) - with all proceeds going to the Lord Mayor’s chosen charities Evora Hospice and Epilepsy Action NI.

The event is suitable for children aged 2 years and over, and children must be always accompanied by an adult with parental responsibility.
