getactiveabc is the umbrella brand for the Health and Recreation department in Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council and offers a unique mix of health and fitness activities, memberships, water sports, snow sports, dry land activities, golf and swimming. Our nine indoor leisure facilities comprise Orchard Leisure Centre, Banbridge Leisure Centre, South Lake Leisure Centre, Gilford Community Centre, Dromore Community Centre, Rathfriland Community Centre, Richhill Recreation Centre, Tandragee Recreation Centre and Keady Recreation Centre. Our outdoor facilities comprise Craigavon Golf & Ski Centre, Kinnego Marina, Kinnego Bushcraft Centre, Loughgall Golf & Country Park, South Lake Watersports, Gosford Forest Park, Clare Glen Caravan Park, Ardmore Recreation Centre, Cathedral Road Recreation Centre as well as a host of parks and open spaces including Lurgan Park, Palace Demesne, Solitude Park, Banbridge, Dromore Park, Portadown Peoples Park and Craigavon City Park incorporating Tannaghmore Gardens and Animal Farm. Our Sports Development team carry out a varied programme of activities throughout the year to get everyone active, moving and outdoors across Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon. The team also provides an important link to governing bodies of sport and Sport NI and is the ‘go to’ for all sports persons from grass roots to elite athletes in the local area. The team is responsible for delivering the Sports Forum, funding for clubs, education courses, schools programmes, sport and exercise programmes for the public and the annual Sports Awards ceremony. Our local swimming clubs have dived head-first into 2026 with fantastic events in our centres and inspiring performances!

💦 On 14th Feb, Armagh City Swimming Club hosted the 2026 Armagh Championships at Orchard Leisure Centre, welcoming 150+ swimmers from Armagh, Portadown and Lurgan for a fantastic day of racing. Well done to Portadown Amateur Swimming Club on reclaiming the championship trophy! 🏆Cllr Jessica Johnston, Deputy Lord Mayor, presented medals to the deserving winners and Armagh City Swimming Club presented Marie Curie UK with a donation cheque raised through their Christmas Charity Swim at the centre. 👏👏👏

💦 The 2026 Swim Ulster Aquasprint galas got off the blocks at South Lake Leisure Centre as Portadown Amateur Swim Club took on Banbridge Amateur Swimming Club, building momentum for an exciting season ahead! 🏊‍♂️🔥

💦 Huge cheers from poolside for Madison and Emma from Banbridge Amateur Swimming Club, who proudly pulled on the Irish cap at the Home Counties & Celtic Cross Country Championships in London. Madison powered through the Women’s U17 category and 16-year-old Emma stepped up in the Women’s U20 race and swam away with the win! 👏👏👏

💦 Making international ripples across in Lisbon, Cian and Ella from Lurgan Amateur Swimming Club,, and Shea from Banbridge Amateur Swimming Club, were part of a 30-strong squad of Ireland’s top youth swimmers at the 2026 Arena Lisbon International Meet. Part of the Swim Ireland National Junior Pathway Programme, these talented young athletes have a future that is flowing in the right direction! 👏👏👏

💦 Closer to home, massive congratulations to all pupils from local schools who competed at the Swim Ulster Senior Schools Cup & Championships at Bangor Aurora Aquatic Complex. 🏆From their very first splash in school lessons to racing under championship lights, our swim instructors have loved watching that journey from paddling to podium potential! 👏👏👏

🏃‍➡️ If you have registered online for the McKvr Lurgan Park Fun Run for Evora Hospice on Sunday 1st March 2026, the 2026 medal has been revealed 🤩 and t-shirts and numbers are now available for collection from McKvr Store, Unit 8 Gilpinstown Road, Lurgan until Saturday 28th February.

🚲 Indoor Inclusive Cycling Programme

Join us for our next 3-week programme in March as we shift gears for the season and keep pedalling together in a safe and supportive environment.

This welcoming programme is open to adults and children and features a range of adapted bikes, including trikes, tandems, handcycles and a wheelchair transporter. It’s a great opportunity to get comfortable on the bikes, build confidence, and prepare to enjoy outdoor cycling around the beautiful Craigavon Lakes.

💷 Cost: £2.50 per person
