Apologies everybody, this is my first post in a while!
Things have been busy busy at Cwtch Hypnobirthing with lovely parents to be!

Life is busy busy in my world too as we've just welcomed a little fluffy fur baby in to our home...Maggie the teeny tiny Shih Tzu!

It is very true when people say having a new puppy is rather like having a newborn baby in the house...my day now revolves around this little girl and I don't get much else done 😂
This morning I found myself sneaking in a quick shower whilst Maggie had a bit of quiet time in her crate and when I got out of the shower I could hear her crying so getting dressed was super quick so I could get downstairs to sort her out. It brought back such memories of when my girls were babies!

Anyway, on that note I am planning to take the month of December off to give us some settling time before Christmas and of course to enjoy the Christmas and New year period with family.
However, if anyone needs a last minute booking I will do my best to accommodate on the weekends 🙂

Today is my big baby girls 13th Birthday!! and therefore it is also Happy 'Birthing Day' to me!!!

It of course marks 13 years since my love of hypnobirthing magic first began!

13 years ago today really was a magical experience which completely changed the rest of my life in so many ways!

This week 1st-7th August is World Breastfeeding Week!

Skin to skin contact in 'the golden hour' immediately after birth is so so important for many reasons including:
* Bonding
* Regulating babies temperature, heart rate and respiratory system
* Production of Oxytocin (the feel good hormone!) which increases the intense chemistry between mother and baby and decreases the risks of post-partum depression or 'the baby blues' in mothers and helps aid faster recovery!
* It also aids milk production and often, babies who are left undisturbed on their mother's chest will instinctively 'root' and perform what is known as the breast crawl!

This is particularly common in 'hypno babies' who have had a gentle entrance in to the world, free from drugs that can make both mother and baby drowsy and interventions that may hinder the initial experience in the hours after birth.

Many apologies, I've been quiet with posting on here recently...it has been busy busy at Cwtch Hypnobirthing HQ meeting lovely new couples and beginning to wind down a little for my girls summer hols from school!

I gather the football has been going on which lots of people have been rather excited about!🙃😄

Whilst I don't watch football, I do take note which celebs are fans of Hypnobirthing 🤩😍

Harry Kane and his partner Katie have used Hypnobirthing twice for their middle daughter's birth and that of their youngest child and speak highly of its many advantages!

When Harry tweeted in 2018 about his pride on how Katie achieved a wonderful hypno water birth he did receive some backlash as sadly people perceived it as criticism of women who have not had drug free births...
This is absolutely not the case!

Hypnobirthing prepares parents for birth in the best and most positive way possible and armed with knowledge, they are able to make informed decisions about the many choices in birth!
No woman should have to feel like a failure for how her baby has come in to the world!
No matter what, she has performed a miracle!

Today on Fathers Day, I of course would like to wish all the dads out there a good one! 🤩

They're our birth partners, our rock and our voice at that special birthing time when we need them to be!
And they're daddy to our little munchkins!

I would also like to remember the other people in our lives...our own dads (here or in heaven) all the step dads who do a stand up job, the mums who are being mum and dad (you're super heroes!) and all the amazing birth partners who take on that special role!

Oops I missed posting on International Home Birth Day, 6th June!!

I was in half term mode!
Anyway, better late then never!

Whilst Hypnobirthing will have huge benefits wherever you choose to birth it is also true to say that it is the perfect compliment to a home birth!

Here are just some of the wonderful reasons that home births are amazing! 🤩

❤ Mothers are often most comfortable in their home surroundings

❤ The midwives come to you...you can remain in your birthing bubble as their will be no mad dash to the hospital! This has a positive impact on your well being and happy hormones which help birth along!

❤ If you choose to have a water birth, you're guaranteed a pool...its right there in your living room! Or you can benefit from a dip in the bath if you prefer!

❤ Anyone you wish to be present at your birth will be welcome, not just your partner.

❤ Soft lighting can be maintained...no glaring artificial lights disturbing your birthing calm!
The same goes for any music, candles and other comforts you would like.

❤ When baby has arrived you have the immense joy of snuggling up in your own bed as a new family for as long as you want! Bliss!

Having had 2 home births myself I could go on and on! 😃

Home births are far more common place now and certainly gaining in popularity and they are an option well worth considering for any parents to be!

And I couldn't let this post slip by without mentioning the wonderful Surrey Hills Home Birth team that serves our area!

An old school pal who is now a Midwife in London has published her Msc dissertation on the use of mobile apps in labour.

An interesting read for me as smart phones and apps were only just becoming a thing when I had my last baby in 2014.
I certainly wasn't aware of any pregnancy/labour apps at that time!

Now they're very common and widely used and can be incredibly useful for timing surges/contractions amongst other things!
