Today is National Time to Talk Day, the nation's biggest mental health conversation!
Conversations have the power to change lives. Talking about mental health reduces stigma and creates space for people who need it to seek help.
While there’s no right or wrong way to talk about mental health, here are a few great tips for supporting someone in a conversation.
💬 Try to ask open, non-judgmental questions, like ‘what does that feel like?’
💬 While it might feel like you're being helpful, try to resist the urge to offer quick fixes to what someone is going through. Unless they’ve asked for advice directly, it might be best just to listen.
💬 Comments like ‘Pull yourself together’ or ‘You’re just having a bad day’ are not helpful.
If you need further help, I'm here to listen. 💜
