Why did I become a therapist?
Through my late teens and 20s I battled with disordered eating. Having lost 6 stone I became obsessed with exercise and calories, often combatting eating with more exercise. However I was fit and looked relatively healthy (clothed) so it was well hidden most of the time. Comments of 'you're too thin' were combatted with binges and more exercise creating a cycle that would take years to break and conventional therapy just did NOT help. It wasn't about weight it was about control, as my personal life had too many things going on I couldn't control food and exercise was all I had.
Having made a recovery I wanted to help others, to offer something out of nhs convention. I enrolled to become a counsellor but the course was initially hypnotherapy and the rest as they say is history....
