Spring is here. There will opening up of social exchanges as lockdown eases. For many that leads to anticipation and joy but maybe also nervousness and anxiety. Take it slowly, keep whatever boundaries you feel you need. Small steps still take you along the path to where you want to be.

The "new normal", what does that mean?
Every day when we wake wake we make a choice about who and how we will be, only we don't always realise that is what we do. Change is hard, it takes work and most of all belief - in yourself.
In these strange times it is sometimes hard to see your life as having choices and not just as a series of inevitabilities.
That's why talking to someone outside of your world is important and can help.
Reach out to someone, tell them, share.
The old saying is so true "A problem shared is a probkem halved"

This is what keeps us sane. Stop, look, listen and let it feed your soul.

There us a poem "When all around me is troubled, I think of ducks" In such strange times as we now face i find myself focussing on the small things to find joy, listening to the birdsong, watching the sunlight create beautiful shadows. It is an art each day to find those moments of joy to sustain you through this chaos. But most importantly, talk to someone, anyone, to connect to real life.
I found myself having a long chat with a lovely older man who I didn't know and had never met, a stranger passing at a distance who stopped near my gate. I learnt of his childhood, his interests , a little of his history and we found a common connection. All this in an unexpected 15 minute casual passing chat. If I hadn't been locked down, slowed down, I would have hurried the conversation on to get on with something that didn't really matter. Instead we gave each other time, we connected and I realised afterwards I felt uplifted.
Stop and talk always, not just now. That has been my lesson so far.
