Yesterday’s self-defence session for students at South Cheshire College in collaboration with the Cheshire Constabulary was such a powerful and inspiring experience 💜

This class was proudly inclusive of our LGBTQ+ community, welcoming women, men, non-binary, trans, and gender-diverse individuals, because everyone deserves to feel safe, confident, and empowered in their everyday lives.

We focused not just on physical techniques, but on something just as important: awareness. Learning how to spot early signs of danger, trust your instincts, and set boundaries can often help you avoid a situation before it escalates. Self-defence isn’t only about reacting it’s about recognising, preventing, and protecting yourself in a way that works for you.

Building these skills can make a real difference. Confidence grows, fear reduces, and you begin to carry yourself differently, stronger, more aware, and more in control.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended and supported each other in such a respectful and empowering space. You showed that self defence is for everybody, and everybody deserves to feel safe 🛡️

If you’re thinking about joining a future session, know that you will be welcomed exactly as you are.

I’ve trained in Karate for many years, and that journey has given me a deep understanding of self defense. But the techniques I teach today aren’t about strength, size, or being a martial arts expert.

In my self defense classes, the focus is on simple, practical techniques that anyone can learn and use. You don’t have to be strong or physically powerful. When the technique is applied correctly, it allows you to create strength through skill and understanding rather than muscle.

Self defense should be accessible to everyone, regardless of age, size, or fitness level. My classes are designed so that anybody can learn how to protect themselves with confidence.

If you’ve ever thought self-defense wasn’t for you, think again. These methods are simple, effective, and built for real people in real situations.

🚶‍♀️❌My top 10 tips for walking alone❌🚶‍♀️

1. Walk like you know exactly where you’re going
Head up, shoulders back, confident pace. Confidence alone deters a surprising number of people.

2. Stay aware (headphones fully off, just low)
Avoid noise-canceling. You want to hear footsteps, bikes, or cars approaching.

3. Trust your gut — immediately!
If something feels off, don’t rationalise it. Change direction, cross the street, enter a store, or call someone.

4. Share your location with someone you trust
Especially at night or in unfamiliar areas. Even better: tell them your route and ETA.

5. Keep your phone ready, not buried
Battery charged, screen unlocked or emergency mode accessible. Pretend phone calls still work as deterrents. Use an app like hollieguard (ask me for more details)

6. Stick to well lit, populated routes
Even if it takes longer. Darkness + isolation = unnecessary risk.

7. Carry a legal personal safety tool
Examples: personal alarm, flashlight, whistle. Know how to use it before you need it.

8. Avoid predictable routines
If you walk the same route daily, occasionally switch it up — especially times and paths.

9. Set boundaries loudly and early if needed
A firm “STOP,” “BACK OFF,” or “I DON’T KNOW YOU” draws attention and signals confidence.

10. Dress and move for mobility
Shoes you can walk fast in. Bags that don’t restrict movement. Style is great, safety is better.

A little about me ☺️

What I love about Yoga? It is journey of amazing discoveries and to healthy and happy life. I love helping people and watching my students to grow and smile and be proud of themselves. If they tell me they feel better, take less medication or can do something again they couldn’t before, I am the happiest teacher in the universe ☀️🌍♥️

My name is Kristyna, I started yoga to be able to do handstand 😆 and fell in love with Shavasana 😂

My body started to recover really quickly after my bootcamp, meta fit, running and crossfit sessions and I became more relaxed and calmer human.

I qualified as Hatha Yoga teacher and added some more qualifications on the way Yoga for Children, Animal Flow, Aerial Yoga, Massage with Tibetan Sound Bowls and Sound Healing, Trauma Informed Yoga, Somatic Therapy in Yoga, Yin Yoga, Advanced Yin Yoga and Somatic Yin.
