IV at Home Service Expands to Support Heart Failure Patients

We’re delighted to share that our Heart Failure Virtual Ward service now allows patients to receive intravenous (IV) diuretic treatment at home — a treatment that previously would have required a hospital stay of several days.

This new model of care helps patients recover in the comfort of their own homes, reduces hospital readmissions, and offers a more personalised, patient-centred experience. Feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.
A patient shared:
“The care I received at home meant the world to me and my wife. Staying at home has aided my recovery and my symptoms were much improved after the first couple of doses. All the nurses involved were lovely and compassionate. Now my symptoms have improved I have been able to drive my car for the first time in over two months.”

This initiative demonstrates the power of integrated care, bringing together specialist expertise, innovation, and technology to improve outcomes for patients with complex, long-term conditions.

Did you know it affects 1 in 14 people?

Our Community Speech and Language Therapy Team marked DLD Awareness Day in October at Infinity House, helping to raise understanding of how DLD affects communication and everyday life.

The team shared helpful resources to explain what DLD is and how we can all support people who have it. 💬💙

Thank you to everyone who took part in raising awareness and starting conversations that make a difference! 🌟

🎥 Supporting Staff Safety: UTC Streaming Team Introduce CCTV Body Cameras

In response to a rise in incidents involving violent or aggressive behaviour and lone working, the Urgent Treatment Centre Streaming Team have now been provided with CCTV body cameras — an important step in helping our nursing teams feel safer and more supported at work.

Service Manager, Clare, explains:
“These cameras help keep the nursing team safe by deterring unwanted behaviour and providing clear evidence if incidents occur. Most importantly, this reflects our commitment to listening to staff and addressing their concerns so they can focus on delivering the best possible care while feeling supported and protected.”

Our teams have already noticed a difference:
💬 “Since wearing the cameras, I’ve had far fewer instances of verbal aggression — people seem much calmer.”
💬 “After more than 30 years of nursing, I was unsure about wearing a camera at first, but now I feel reassured knowing I can record events if needed to protect myself, colleagues and the public. It hasn’t affected my role, and patients have been understanding.”

This initiative marks a positive step towards ensuring our staff feel safe, valued, and supported in delivering high-quality care for our community.

We’re proud of Charlotte Backhouse, Stoma Care Team Leader, who recently presented at the national Association of Stoma Care Nurses UK conference. 🌟

Charlotte shared insights on the Specialist Nursing Assessment and Prescription Service (SNAPS) — an NHS-led prescribing service demonstrating both clinical excellence and cost-effectiveness.

Her presentation received fantastic feedback and sparked lots of interest from other NHS Trusts eager to learn more about the service.

Congratulations, Charlotte — an incredible achievement and brilliant representation of CCICP! 💙

🎉 Celebrating AHP Day

This month, our incredible Allied Health Professionals (AHPs) from across CCICP came together with Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust colleagues to celebrate AHP Day — a chance to recognise the amazing work our teams do every day to support patients and communities. 💙

A huge thank you to everyone who helped organise the event, and to those who showcased their quality improvement projects and achievements on the day. It was fantastic to see so many of our AHPs representing all five professions within CCICP! 👏

🌟 Congratulations to all of our award winners and nominees — your hard work and dedication truly make a difference.

As our AHP Lead, Dave Berry, shared: “I came away feeling very proud to be an AHP.”
