The care team at Alexandra Mill brought plenty of smiles and laughter today by arriving in their pyjamas - all as part of a fun April Fools surprise! 😀

Residents were delighted by the unexpected twist, with lots of cheerful moments shared throughout the morning. It's these little surprises that make such a big difference, creating a warm, joyful atmosphere and memories to treasure.

A big well done to the team for going the extra mile to spread happiness and keep spirits high- proving that a little bit of fun can brighten everyone's day! 💛

A little update from Alexandra Mill......and what a heart warming couple of days it's been!💛

After welcoming 5 ducks with the help of Dean from Incredible Eggs, we've been treated to something truly magical. It wasn't long before the first egg began to hatch and since then, we now have 4 adorable ducklings keeping us all entertained 🐥🐥🐥🐥

The games room has been full of excitement as residents, families and visitors have gathered to watch each new arrival. There's been lots of chatting, laughter and even a few happy tears as everyone shares in the experience together.

Moments like these are so special because they bring people together, spark memories and create a real sense of joy and connection throughout the home.

We're all eagerly waiting to see when our final duckling makes an appearance ....stay tuned! 🐣✨

What a fantastic afternoon at Alexandra Mill as residents were joined by Micwire for a fun-filled "Care-e-oke" session✨🎤.

The room was full of smiles, laughter and music as everyone sang along to their favourite tunes. From the much loved classics of Rod Stewart to the golden hits of Doris Day, there was something for everyone to enjoy.

It was wonderful to see so many residents growing in confidence, taking the microphone, and truly shining. Moments like these show the power of music to bring people together, spark memories and create joy.

A big Thankyou to Kate and MicWire for helping make the afternoon so special - we're already looking forward to the next one! 💛💜

Residents from Alexandra Mill enjoyed a wonderful day out in Blackpool 🌊

The trip began with a traditional fish and chips pub lunch before heading off to the iconic Blackpool Tower Ballroom, where everyone had a fantastic time, watching the ever so elegant dancers take to the floor.💃🕺. A special highlight was a wheelchair dance with Sheila and Andy, our amazing tour leader!

The visit brought back so many treasured memories. Kathleen remembered how she once danced the Jive on that very floor and was even lifted off her feet - such precious moments to remember❤️

A truly heart warming day filled with laughter, nostalgia and joy✨

🍀Residents at Alexandra Mill enjoyed a fantastic afternoon celebrating Saint Patrick's Day🍀

With Vicky from Musical Moments providing the fun and entertainment, everyone had a wonderful time singing along to classic Irish songs, including the much-loved Molly Malone.🪇
As well as a picture quiz, with a Leprechaun.

The afternoon was filled with laughter, music and plenty of Irish cheer. Enjoyed by all in true Irish style !! 🇮🇪 💚

Residents enjoyed a wonderful afternoon celebrating Mother's Day with a fantastic performance from The Baker Street Belles.🌼

It was lovely to see so many happy faces as residents sang along, danced and tapped their toes to a wonderful selection of vintage-style music.🎤🎼 The room was filled with smiles, happiness and a great atmosphere.

Over the last two weeks at Alexandra Mill, we have been trialling a Symphony hearing assistance system to help enhance communication and inclusion for our residents.

We were delighted to welcome Pritesh from Symphony Hearing, who led an informative training session with members of our care team from Admin and Activities, along with David, our Resident Ambassador.

Pritesh provided a thorough explanation of how the system works and shared clear guidelines for its use, ensuring our team feels confident supporting residents who may benefit from this technology.

It was a great opportunity for staff to ask questions, learn more about hearing support, and explore how we can continue improving everyday experiences for the people who live at Alexandra Mill.

🌼Daffodil Luncheon at Alexandra Mill 🌼

Today the Head of Department team members joined the Residents Management Team, along with Home Manager Steph, for our lovely Daffodil Luncheon.

It was wonderful to sit down and dine together, sharing conversation and enjoying a relaxed mealtime with our residents.

These moments are so special and really highlight the warm community we have here at Alexandra Mill.

Residents at Alexandra Mill enjoyed a wonderful afternoon with Gareth and David from Memory Makers. 😊

During the session, residents chatted about the jobs they had throughout their lives, what cars they had owned and shared memories of their favourite music. There was plenty of laughter during a fun music quiz, with everyone joining in and testing their musical knowledge. 🎼

The afternoon also included exploring a variety of aromatherapy scents, from freshly cut grass to the scent of lemons 🍋 , the scents instantly triggered memories and sparked lots of lovely conversations and stories.

A truly enjoyable afternoon for everyone involved.

Residents at Alexandra Mill shared a wonderful afternoon of dance with Diane and Tom from Buttermilk dance studio💃🕺

Everyone had great fun moving to favourite songs like "These Boots are made for Walking" and Petula Clarke's "Downtown". By the end of the afternoon we were all getting quite skilled at the Hand Jive and even the Twist.

There were plenty of smiles, laughter and great moves all round.
A big Thankyou to Diane and Tom for bringing such energy and joy to our afternoon. We're already looking forward to the next dance session! ✨

What a wonderful afternoon the residents at Alexandra Mill had, enjoying time painting their chosen piece of bisque pottery. Whether they selected a trinket box or a fun little car, everyone embraced the opportunity to be creative and simply have fun.

Conversations and laughter filled the room as everyone admired each others progress, and encouraged one another.

By the end of the session, each unique piece reflected not only individual creativity but also the warmth and sense of community shared throughout the afternoon. It wasn't just about painting pottery - it was about connection, self expression and enjoying a truly special time together. 🧡
