We treat every funeral individually, making certain that you are provided with a meaningful and memorable day, reflecting the life of your loved one. We understand that arranging a funeral can be extremely painful and stressful. Peter, the dearly loved husband of Kath, to whom he was married for 61 years.

Our iconic Christmas Tree has once again taken up its place as a beacon of light and love, now shining proudly from Oxley’s. For so many in our community, the switching on of our tree has become part of cherished seasonal traditions, a moment that brings comfort, connection, and hope at a time of year that can be difficult for some in our community.

We’ve also decorated the entrance to our offices and adorned our indoor tree with lanterns, each one offering a compassionate welcome to the families we serve.

May these lights remind us all of the warmth of community, the strength of remembrance, and the love that surrounds us. 💛✨

𝐎𝐁𝐈𝐓𝐔𝐀𝐑𝐘 🙏

Dorothy Newton, 23 July 1942 – 1 December 2025

Dorothy passed away peacefully on 1st December 2025, aged 83 years.

Beloved widow of Robert, cherished mum to Julie, Susan and Esther, and devoted nan to Meg, Grace, Emily and Robert. She was also a much-loved great-nan to Bernard, Betsy, Thomas, Mary and Mabel. Dorothy was the oldest sister to Christine, Joan, Beryl, David and Brian, and a great friend to many who will miss her warmth and kindness.

Dorothy dedicated more than 30 years of her life to caring for others at Hollymere Care Home in Haslington. She was deeply loved and respected by residents, relatives and colleagues alike, who remembered her compassion and gentle nature. To so many, Dot was not just a carer, but a source of comfort and strength.

Known for her love of shopping and her fondness for seaside holidays, Dot found great joy in trips to Blackpool, Llandudno and Barmouth. These simple pleasures, shared with family and brought her great happiness throughout her life.

The Countdown to Christmas has begun at Oxley’s! ✨

Our creative team spent a joyful morning at St Mary’s Church, Acton, decorating our tree for the Christmas Tree Festival.

The festive season can carry different emotions, and events like this offer warmth, welcome, and a sense of belonging for all.

This year’s theme is “A Storybook Christmas”, with stunning creations ready to delight. Colin has been busy crafting props for our chosen tale… can you guess who’s stuck on the chimney at the top of our tree? 🐾🎅

Over the past year, we have had the honour of caring for both Roy and Dot Banks.

Their coffins were adorned with truly stunning floral sprays, a reminder of how flowers can speak when words feel too small.

At times of loss, flowers carry the language of love, offering comfort and a gentle presence that helps make sadness more bearable.

We are continually humbled by the immense talents of the local florists we work alongside🤝

Today, we celebrate Chatwins, our much‑loved local craft bakery. Since 1913, their mission has been simple, to bake the best bread for miles around.
More than one hundred years later, that same commitment to quality is still at the heart of everything they do.

Founded by Bill and Doris Oxley, long respected for their dedicated monumental masonry work, Oxley’s was born from their deep passion for supporting local families.

Their commitment to care inspired them to expand their work and establish Oxley’s Funeral Services, ensuring compassion and guidance during life’s most difficult moments 🙏

Forty-five years on, we honour their vision and the enduring legacy of kindness that continues to guide us.
