For the third year in a row, Crewkerne Town Council have refused our grant application. Nevertheless, we continue supporting the children and young people in our community with YOUR help. Our latest thanks go to Rainbows and Brownies for their £50 donation-we look forward to helping with your Wellbeing Badges! Also, thanks to Central Store (Kithill) for £75 raised from raffle tickets. Thank you to everyone who purchased a ticket. A massive thank you to Sarah Langdon and Victoria Welton for the £335 raised from the sale of their calendar. Finally, we are receiving funds from the non-uniform day to be held at Wadham School tomorrow! All this brings us close to the amount we applied for, so a HUGE thank you to our community, who recognise the value of the work we do

We see this reflected in our own community as we are almost at full capacity. We need to invest in the wellbeing of this age group, or these numbers will only increase.

This is new data from NHS England published this week. It confirms that the crisis in young people’s mental health is deepening – and has become a mental health emergency.

For the past decade we have repeatedly called out the Government for not taking enough action. Year after the year these statistics get worse, yet no radical change happens. They have lost their grip on this emergency and are failing young people as a result.

We can’t continue to let this escalate.

The Government must tackle the reasons why so many young people are struggling with their mental health. Right now, they can make a difference by making sure every community has an early support hub so that young people can get help as soon as they need it.

On top of that, we need a plan that is ambitious enough to end the mental health emergency – a plan with a focus on preventing poor mental health, as well as investing in and improving services.

What a great start as we enter our third year. A donation of £249.14 from St Barts school, followed by a donation of £560.82 from Wadham School!! While we are very grateful to our big funders, it is this local support, given freely and generously, that means so much to us. Thank you to staff, parents and pupils from both schools.

There is still time to donate to Bilbys fundraiser, the deadline being this Friday, when the big man is having his beard shaved off!!
