Massage therapy vs soft tissue therapy — what’s the difference?
People often use these terms interchangeably, but they are not the same.
Massage therapy is typically focused on relaxation, circulation and general muscle tension. It helps you unwind, reduces stress and supports overall wellbeing. You might leave feeling lighter, calmer and less tight — but it isn’t always targeted at a specific injury or dysfunction.
Soft tissue therapy is more clinical and outcome-focused. It looks at how muscles, tendons and fascia are contributing to pain, restriction or movement issues. Treatment is tailored to a goal — such as reducing pain, improving mobility, supporting rehab or helping you return to sport.
In simple terms:
✨ Massage = relaxation and general tension relief
✨ Soft tissue therapy = assessment, treatment and rehab of specific issues
Both are valuable — but the right choice depends on what your body needs.
At Incondition Clinical Therapy, treatment isn’t one-size-fits-all. Whether you need to switch off, recover from training or work through persistent pain, sessions are tailored to you.
