Men's Club met this week and our gentleman had suggested a comedy night! After dinner we gathered in the Sports Lounge for beers, irn bru, crisps and nuts with a Billy Connelly show. Resident led activities are always a hit and this was no exception.

Crosshouse Church visited us for worship and afternoon tea. It's so lovely to have friends visit us and help us stay connected with our faith on a regular basis.

Residents also requested a cinema experience so we spent this afternoon watching a romantic movie with "proper sweeties" in paper bags which brought back memories of sweet shops and visits to the pictures back in the day.

Our new Boxercise classes came to Thorntoun to add to our already packed movement program. We listened to the Rocky soundtrack we got our hearts pumping with punches and knees.

We've been to the pub (a very popular resident request), Centrestage and out for a chippy.

We love hearing resident's and family suggestions for activities and tomorrow we have our cinema experience as requested in our monthly residents meeting.

Families and friends joined us to today to welcome Ragnar the Pony.

Huge thanks to Caitlyn F for letting him visit us.

We spent the afternoon petting him and we very much liked seeing the children enjoying themselves too.

Malky McCormick, Hair Styling, Arts and crafts and then some Bingo to take us into the weekend.

The Malky McCormick exhibition was fantastic, we loved seeing our favourite celeb, footballers and musicians in the art. Gave us some inspiration for our next mens club - we're having a Billy Connelly night!

Tomorrow we have Ragnor the Pony visiting and we can't wait!

A wonderful visit from the students of Kilmarnock Academy today to bring music and art to Thorntoun.

Residents listened to songs chosen by the students and were supported to create art reflecting how the music made them feel and memories brought back by the music.

Coming into such a big crowd takes a lot of confidence and bravery and both staff and residents agreed the students did very well. We appreciate both the experience and the opportunity to build intergenerational relationships within our community.

Doing what we love!

We celebrated National Jigsaw Day on Thursday with Jigsaws and Boardgames and Pool.

Crosshouse Church visited us for their bi-monthly worship and afternoon tea.

We wrapped up warm for fish and chips, Greggs and some beautiful Ayrshire Scenery.

We did our exercises and worked hard before getting our Friday on with a Glow Disco and Karoke followed by a special Residents Request Menu of a 'Cooncil Tea'

bringing in the weekend with a bang 💥

It's National Chocolate Cake Day and Head Cook Marie teamed up with the Activities Team to provide baking and cake decorating for our residents.

We got into the kitchen for measuring, baking and lots of laughs before decorating our cakes with icing and a selection of toppings.

We chatted about our favourite cakes and what we like to bake - it brought back some great memories and the cakes were delicious.

Well Done Everyone

Fun, food and friendship!

On Friday we welcomed Music Box for a Burns themed sing-song. We had a great time singing along and dancing.

We've kept busy with boules, darts, wordsearches on the magic table and trips to McDonalds and Centrestage.

What a great start to our week!

Burns Night Lunch with Special Guest Piping by Callum !

Callum entertained in all units today and residents loved hearing the pipes as they sat down to a special 3 course dinner.

One resident said she couldn't remember the last time she'd heard pipes and there were a few wet eyes as the music brought back special memories.

Pupils from Hillhead Primary School read the Burns Blessing and shared poetry by Burns and other Scottish poets with residents in their rooms and in lounges.

We hope you all enjoy your Haggis as much as we did!

Announcement - First Family Fun Event of 2026!

Last year we held several big family events such as Duck Day, Poppy Tea, Fireworks Night and our Christmas Fayre. We can't thank you all enough for the support shown by our Thorntoun Families and Friends through 2025.

These events are always popular and we're pleased to announce our first of 2026!

Meet Ragnar!

He'll be visiting our residents on Saturday 7th February from 1.30pm and we'd like to invite families to come along too.

Ragnar will be visiting the lounges and doing room visits, and we'll have a photo area for you to take of photos with him and your loved ones.

Ragnar is great with children and adults of all ages and we look forward to seeing you all there.

Any questions please contact Debbie or Kaitlyn via email, phone or catch us at Thorntoun when you visit.

Special thanks to Care Team Member Caitllin F for making this possible and giving our residents and families such a wonderful opportunity.
