💍 A Wonderful Afternoon of Wedding Reminiscence

One of the lovely residents recently shared her wedding DVD with us. Watching it sparked lots of conversations about weddings from years gone and what a wonderful time we had! Residents also shared wedding albums, treasured photographs of loved ones, and memories of the dresses, suits, and celebrations from their big days.

There were smiles, laughter, and a few happy tears as stories were shared about meeting their partners, the fashions of the time, and the joy of their wedding days.

It was a truly heartwarming afternoon filled with memories, friendship, and love. 💐

🎉 Our Gem for March goes to Marc, our 2nd Chef. Marc has shown incredible dedication , consistently stepping up to cover extra shifts and supporting the team whenever needed. His hard work and reliability have made a real difference.
On top of that, Marc played an important role in helping us achieve a 5-star EHO visit, which is a fantastic accomplishment for the whole team ⭐️

Move over Claude Monet & Vincent Van Gogh! We held an art class this morning- on drawing Landscapes! The residents really enjoyed having a “go” they said they found it very therapeutic and relaxing! ☺️
Art sessions like these are so important for many reasons! It’s good for hand eye coordination as well as Dexterity, but also good for your mental health and wellbeing 😊
It was really lovely watching how each Resident put their own interpretation on each Landscape they drew!

We were privileged to enjoy a singing performance from Susanna on Thursday afternoon! She has such a beautiful voice the Residents really enjoyed listening and joining in with Musical Instruments- as well as singing along with her genre of songs!

In keeping with World book day today, We celebrated this in various ways 📕 One group of Residents made their very own Resin bookmark, while another group attended a reading session all about Rudyard Kipling and his home in Burwash East Sussex.
Another Resident bought along her Bygone Crowborough book and showed everyone the picture of her late husband in it, whilst another Resident invited her book club friends for the afternoon and they enjoyed tea whilst sharing their favourite stories! It was a really nice way to spend time together. 😊

We’ve started on our Spring Theme here at Heatherview- Steph held a lovely Arts and Crafts workshop this morning with some Residents on Broadstone. They really enjoyed making their flowers and putting them on Display!

Another very special time with Beacon Academy Students! To celebrate “Friendship Day” on no better day than
National Care Day! 😊🙏🏻
We really enjoy our intergenerational partnership we have the younger people in Crowborough Community and means a lot to us and the Residents when we all get together 😊
The children sat and chatted with some Residents, some students played blow football! Some even brought prepared work with them to share which was lovely to see!

The lovely Lynne from Crowborough Community Church Oasis came to visit us today and showed us the art of paint pouring! 😊
We had great fun in making our own unique designs! It was very therapeutic, we all really enjoyed trying it out! 😃 Thank you Lynne!

We embrace intergenerational growth and togetherness here at Heatherview and over the last weeks we have been visited by some young students, One student is studying for her A Levels and met with some Residents for a piece of work she was completing titled “What makes you” The residents got a lot from this session! The other students supported the Lifestyle Team in making decorations for a beautiful Valentines display and helped make some lovely Chinese fans for our celebration of Chinese New Year last week!
It’s so nice when we all get together! 😊

We celebrated Chinese New Year this afternoon! Firstly enjoying a very tasty Chinese meal cooked by Mark in the Kitchen! The Residents loved it! Thank you ☺️ 🥢 🏮 🥠 We then had the afternoon in the Cafe area-it was such fun! We read out some fun facts! We opened our fortune cookies, we learned our Chinese Animal Years! And we played the Chopsticks Challenge! Everyone said they had such a good time and laughed a lot.

A huge well done to Liz and Sharon for successfully passing their minibus training! 👏
Thanks to their achievement, we’re excited to start planning more trips out and adventures for our residents. The road ahead is full of possibilities, laughter, and new memories!
