Bengkung Belly Binding. After giving my client today a postpartum belly massage she asked if she could try a belly bind to see if she would like it. So I gave her a rundown of what it does for the body & how it feels to be wrapped. Bengkung Belly Binding is a traditional Malaysian technique used to bind a woman during their postpartum period. I used a long muslin cloth approx 17yards x9ā. The cloth is wrapped around the abdominal area, starting low on the hips all the way up to where the bottom of your bra would lay. The binding offers support to the womb after birth. It aids healing, allowing your organs/ abdominal muscles to move back into its original position. The Bengkung bind also supports your pelvic floor It gives you a gentle compression that holds muscles & ligaments safely in place as your body heals it can also improve posture. Belly binding is not the same as waist training, belly binding is only meant to be a supportive device. You can begin belly binding depending on how you gave birth & which type of binding you plan on using. If you gave birth vaginally & the birth went well, you can start binding right away. If you delivered via C Section, you should wait until your incision is healed & dry before doing so. However talk to your midwife before you start binding. Bengkung binding are best tied directly on bare skin. But some of my clients prefer to have a bind over a vest top instead. You can move around comfortably & it shouldnāt impede on your ability to breathe or perform simple tasks like sitting. Some clients choose to wear their binds anywhere from 2~12hrs per day taking it off before bedtime. Client can opt to wear their bind for up to 2-6wks postpartum. This client added it onto her package.š¤
