Rowland Brothers Funeral Directors

Rowland Brothers Funeral Directors Rowland Brothers is a family-run firm of funeral directors that has been serving the needs of Come and see us.

Rowland Brothers, funeral directors Croydon, have helped bereaved families as undertakers in Croydon and South London since 1873. Still very much a family firm, we're proud to serve clients from every religious denomination and ethnic group. We have worked closely with many families in the Croydon community to help deliver a professional and respectful funeral service. Our 147-year connection with the area makes us an active member of the community, and we aim to continue growing our family firm throughout Croydon and South London, to help even more bereaved families through the most difficult time of their lives.

Today, we pause to remember the lives cut short by HIV and AIDS, and to stand with every family who has carried that loss.

World AIDS Day reminds us how far we’ve come, yet how many people still face stigma, grief and silence.

We hold space for every story, every name and every memory that lives on in the people who loved them.

Surrey Street Market came together in a moving tribute to a woman whose presence was woven into the life of the market itself. As a long-standing trader, she was more than a familiar face, she was part of the heartbeat of the street, known for her warmth, her resilience, and the spirit she brought to every day behind her stall.

In honour of her life and the decades she spent serving her community, a special procession was held down Surrey Street Market, giving fellow traders, friends, and locals the chance to mourn her in the place she helped shape. In a rare and heartfelt gesture, the council agreed to temporarily turn off the street cameras and allow the procession to pass through uninterrupted. A small but powerful recognition of her legacy, her dignity, and the love she inspired.

Her memory will live on in the stories, the laughter, and the everyday moments shared among those who knew her. Surrey Street Market won’t be the same without her, but it will always carry her spirit.

Today we remember Loki. A young man whose heart beat in time with the military world he loved so deeply. From an early age, he was fascinated by every detail of army life. Even when health challenges delayed his dream of joining up, he pushed forward with quiet determination, spending time at camp with the Royal Artillery and envisioning a future in uniform.

Loki carried an encyclopedic knowledge of military history, equipment, uniforms, and vehicles. He had a gift for spotting details most of us would never notice, even pointing out continuity mistakes in war films with a smile, knowing exactly which era each weapon or tank truly belonged to.

His passion was matched only by his potential. Loki left us far too soon, before he had the chance to fulfill the future he worked so hard toward and so clearly deserved.

Gone far too early, but remembered with pride, love, and deep respect.

A bespoke military funeral service with military hearse, procession and our own ex-military staff to accompany Loki on his final journey.

Rest easy, Loki. Your light and your passion live on in every life you touched.

This Movember, let’s stop treating men’s health as “optional.” Far too many men delay checking in on themselves, physically or mentally, until it’s urgent.

We believe strength includes vulnerability. If you’re struggling, or know someone who is, reach out. Talk. Listen. Offer support.

You don’t have to face things alone.

Today is World Kindness Day - a gentle reminder that even the smallest act of care can make a difference.

In times of loss, kindness is what carries us through. A shared memory, a helping hand, or a few words of comfort can mean more than we realise.

At Rowland Brothers, we see the power of kindness every day - in families supporting one another, in communities coming together, and in the compassion that guides everything we do.

Let’s keep spreading it, one act at a time.

At the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month, we remember.

Armistice Day is a moment to honour the end of conflict, to reflect on the cost of war, and to give thanks for those who served and those who never returned home.

Their memory reminds us how fragile peace can be and how important it is to keep it.
