RBI was established when holiday companies recognised the need for a commercial repatriation strategy to reunite loved ones with their families after a fatal tragedy abroad. We have been the official helpline for The National Association of Funeral Directors and its members for 15 years. In June 2016 the company was the first funeral director in the UK to sign the Armed Forces Covenant. Our organisation has been signposted in FCO literature as being one which may be able to provide support and advice to British nationals who need the services of an international funeral director.

If your loved one had strong wishes about their funeral, they would often have shared them. If they didn’t,
please don’t feel burdened by the decision. The choice is yours and there is no “wrong” answer.

It can help to reflect on who they were in life.
Did they feel most at peace in the countryside? A natural burial might feel fitting.

Would having a place to visit bring comfort to you and your family? A burial may offer that sense of
connection.

If you live further away and regular visits would be difficult, cremation can be a practical and equally
meaningful option.

It’s also important to consider cost, so there are no unexpected pressures at an already difficult time. Graves
can be expensive and fees vary by location.

In the Croydon, Bromley and surrounding areas, families typically budget around £4,000 for a burial and
around £3,000 for a cremation.

These are significant decisions - emotionally and financially. Taking the time to talk them through can bring
clarity and reassurance, helping you choose what feels most appropriate for the person you are honouring
and for those left behind.
