Last Friday, we were joined by Natasha Irons MP for the formal opening of our new recovery area in our Theatres department.

Work began on the project in May and was completed in October. In total, £500k has been spent increasing the unit capacity from three to five recovery bays, including a refreshed and modern environment that benefits both staff and patients. Specialist LED lighting has also been installed, creating a calming and welcoming atmosphere that helps put patients at ease.

Natasha Irons MP, who was elected in July 2024 was joined by Adam Busby, Chief Clinical and Quality Officer at Circle Health Group and Dr Jacob Bloor, our Executive Director to mark the official opening with a ribbon cutting.

Dr Jacob Bloor, Executive Director of Shirley Oaks Hospital said: “It was a privilege to welcome Ms Irons to Shirley Oaks Hospital and to have her formally open our new recovery area. We are committed to continuing to invest in our facilities and services to meet the needs of patients across Croydon. We are proud of the work we do to support our colleagues in all parts of the healthcare system, and it is our intention to continue providing safe, effective and outstanding care to patients for many years to come.”

On Monday, we celebrated our wonderful Imaging Team as part of at Shirley Oaks Hospital, shining a light on our incredible Imaging Team. 🎉

Our Executive Director - Jacob, Director of Clinical Services - Rosie, and Director of Operations - Amy, joined the Imaging team for a relaxed lunch, followed by stunning cakes crafted by our Compass Chef, a sweet way to say thank you.

Our Imaging Manager - Katy, and her team filled our bubbles with heartfelt messages about what makes them proud to be radiographers and radiography assistants at Shirley Oaks. Their words reminded us just how vital radiography is to patient care. Thank you Imaging Team!

BMI Shirley Oaks Hospital is a private hospital located in Shirley Village close to the Croydon city centre. Our hospital team is dedicated to providing you with supportive treatment and recovery in comfortable surroundings.

Our facilities: We have 27 inpatient bedrooms, 10 consulting rooms three theatres (one with laminar flow), a JAG accredited endoscopy suite, ambulatory care unit and imaging services (X-ray, MRI, CT, ultrasound). We provide services for Orthopaedics, General Surgery, Men’s Health, physiotherapy, Gastroenterology, Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, ENT, Cardiology and breast screening clinics.
