Initially based in Crumlin, County Antrim, but with the option of home visits if requested, GRAVIDAM will provide a high quality complementary maternity service where pregnant women, anticipating normal or low risk pregnancies and their partners and families, will receive consistently safe, effective family centred care. Having worked within the NHS for over 30 years, the two NMC registered midwives who run this service have recognised the necessity for additional time, education and support. This is not always feasible at a busy antenatal clinic, as has been reported by mothers to be in our care. The complexities surrounding COVID 19 restrictions and regulations makes everything more difficult for everyone involved. We will endeavour to give mothers what they want! We are striving to empower and nurture women by providing that extra bit of time to discuss realistic expectations from conception to delivery, enabling them to have a fulfilling experience that is centred around their personal beliefs and aspirations. Our service will NOT be instead of routine NHS midwifery/obstetric care, it is an added enhanced service which runs in tangent with conventional care, allowing expectant mothers, partners and their families the freedom to discuss any antenatal concerns. With GRAVIDAM you can avail of extra midwifery visits between hospital/community consultations. The essence of our service is to provide individualised holistic care, incorporating the important aspects of both mental and physical health. This enables women and their families to get the optimum experience possible throughout their pregnancy. All midwifery care is in keeping with the NICE guidelines and in line with the NMC Code, RQIA regulations and is covered by the RCN professional body.
