Ban the Bag...Ireland has had a plastic bag tax since 2002 and the positive effect was pretty much instantaneous, as was confirmed by the minister for the environment at the time. The extra revenue was put towards environmental projects. A plastic bag costs 15c that was enough to deter most people who just started bringing their own reusable bags. Wales followed suit in 2011, followed then by Scotland and Northern Ireland. England have just introduced it. What has taken everyone so long?!! Anyway, we shall see what happens. What do you think?

Do you use Petroleum Jelly? I had very badly chapped lips when I was a kid and it was the only thing (that we knew of) that made them somewhat comfortable, so, who knows how much I have ingested,over my life time! But is it safe? The jelly substance is a byproduct of the oil drilling business. While petroleum jelly may be safe in its pure form, purity remains questionable. Some petroleum jellies have been found to contain poly aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH), which are said to be carcinogenic. What do you think?
As an aside, I remember old pots of my grandfather's lying around the garage. The VaselineTM in them was much darker and gloopier. Is that because it was less refined back then or just because it was old, I wonder. ?

I have so many videos of my cat with catnip/catmint. It really does drive them potty! BUT did you every consider what it can do for humans? In fact, there are many medicinal uses for it. The active ingredients are essential oils including mostly Nepetalactone, but also citral, geraniol, citronellol, nerol, thymol and limonene, which can be extracted by steam distillation. Probably the most common use as a sedative. Valerian which contains similar active ingredients, is often included in herbal sleep potions.
