At just five years old, this man went into social care. He would be moved around 13 different homes. At 12 years old, he lost his mum to a he**in overdose. His father wasn't around. At 16, he was kicked out of school after years in and out, "making trouble". He learned everything he knows about acting from nature documentaries of all places, fascinated by how animals can "say so much without saying anything". He got his first acting job after answering an ad he saw in a shop window. Now, against all odds, aged 30, he's made it and been nominated for an Oscar for his excellent performance in The Banshees of Inisherin. Barry Keoghan, everyone. 👏

~ Privilege and Power ~

Living a life with privilege and power isn't the problem. The problem is thinking your life and those of people you love are more important and valuable than the lives of others.

The problem is when we hoard our power and defend our privilege, instead of sharing it, using our position to leverage transformative change, to make the world a more just and loving place.

There's nothing wrong with believing your life matters, that you deserve happiness and good things, the problem is thinking you deserve such a life more than others do.

If maintaining your privilege and power requires reducing (or sabotaging) the happiness and power of others, that's where the problem lies. While LOVE put into action is where solutions (and wisdom) begin.
