The best days for me are being in nature, walking in the rain and hearing my children laughing!
Sometimes when the overwhelm of life gets too much, it’s far easier to feel the pressures to keep going. To keep pushing through. The screams inside my head saying “Do more!”
Our bodies weren’t designed for this level of demand though. They were made with the very intention to bring rest to our weeks also.
Just like the seasons changing, so our bodies change, some days our bodies want to go and do everything and some days it is hard to even find the motivation to move our bodies.
Both movement and rest are needed, so when we ask our bodies for more than it can give us, it is easy to believe the lie 'we are failing or weak'. However, what if our bodies are just telling us, today we might need to have extra sleep, or need to take a slower day?
Other days might be the perfect days for being creative, dreaming, giving it our all.

I share this as an encouragement, what is your body telling you, that you need today?

This photo was one of those days where a walk in nature, rain pouring, splashing puddles, hiding from the goat (yes one of the kids decided there would be a goat that we needed to hide from) was the perfect day to have an adventure!
So, we decided that we all needed to go on an adventure. Our plans changed and we took ourselves off to the forest.
The rain was pouring, our hair was soaking, but the forest was filled with imaginative play, laughter and happy feelings.
Inside my body felt peaceful, I held so much joy whilst creating new memories and being present with my family. No phones (other than to take pictures of foraging finds), just full presence in the moment. Rest does not always have to look like sleep, it is just about giving your body space to slow down and breath again, no expectations, no to do lists.
HELD is a supportive programme that runs over three days. It has been designed to bring in tools to learn how to slow our bodies down, listen to our bodies and to gently introduce some everyday practices to help bring into our everyday lives, learning to breath, pause and be in the moments.
It comes with a beautifully designed workbook I created to go along with the course.
