Billy Horsburgh and I are back with a Fife Writes stand alone 'Words from the Coast' workshop.

Sat 28 Mar 2026
10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Dreel Halls , Anstruther KY10 3DJ

Words from the Coast - Creative Writing Workshop

'Words from the Coast' is a creative writing workshop that aims to immerse participants in the evocative environment of the coast.

This guided workshop invites writers to engage all their senses to craft vivid, sensory-driven work exploring coastal inspired writing. This may take the form of poetry, prose, or personal narratives.

Following on from the successful Words from the Coast project which ran last year with support from The Village Creative this new event is a stand alone workshop using some of the ideas and techniques developed during the project.

The workshop is suitable for all levels of writing ability and writers aged 16 - 116. There is no requirement to have participated in the project to take part in this workshop.

Booking via Ticket Tailor - Free for Fife Writes Members / Non Members - £5

Everything in life is like a garden: relationships, health, work, even personal happiness. They all need attention and nurturing. Think of relationships; the moment we stop tending to them or take them for granted, it’s just a matter of time before they stop growing. The decline happens slowly at first and often goes unnoticed in the early stages.

And, it’s easy, in this comparison culture, to get drawn into focusing on all the things that other people represent as their lives (fancy vacations, perfect relationships, shiny new things…) Instead, bring your attention/appreciation back to what you already have, nurture it with some love and humor, and watch it flourish. The grass is definitely greener where you water it.

Comment a 💚 if you see the value in nurturing what you have.

😲 Jeezy Peeps! 😲

I'm mentioned in the same Outwith Festival press release as Ian Rankin and Ursula Buchan! 😲

Aaaah no pressure there then! Help me overcome my fears of imposter syndrome and sign up for my informative and fun workshop where we'll explore the genre of memoir writing and finding the story that lies within.

Like Mark Twain's quote:

“There was never yet an uninteresting life. Inside the dullest exterior, there is a drama, a comedy, a tragedy.”

I truly believe everyone has magic within them and their stories deserve to be told.

We are all storytellers, so come along and let your story find it's way onto the page.

So this wee beauty arrived through the door!

My poem was long listed for the Scots poetry category for the 'Saint Teneu Poetry Competition 2025'.

As a result I made the final anthology alongside the winning entries!

But to make it even more exciting my poem is in the same book as some of the amazing invited contributors including one of my all time favourite inspirational poets the amazing Rebecca Sharp.

Whoo hoo, how exciting... that's prize enough for me. 😁
