✨Keep active
Physical activity has shown to be effective in reducing stress and anxiety.

✨Wondering how you can help during Alzheimer’s Awareness Month? ✨

Together we can bring hope and support to those that suffer from Alzheimer’s to make them feel less alone. Here are some ways to get involved…

👥 Start the conversation: Talking about Alzheimer’s is the best way to open doors for support. Check in with loved ones and family, ask questions and listen without judgement. Just some reassurance is more powerful than you think.

💜 Wear purple: wearing purple is a great and simple way to show your support and raise awareness.

📅 Host a fundraiser or join an event: whether it’s a bake sale or a walk, your efforts can help fund essential research. Need support on fundraising? Click the following link https://ow.ly/Bwif50X0bUR

✨ Donate: Did you know, every 3 minutes someone in the UK develops dementia and your donation will help people with dementia get the support they need, whether that be through vital projects or paying for dementia advisors to provide support. If you would like to donate, you can do so here: https://ow.ly/XFqA50X0bUQ

💜 Following on from our last post for World Alzheimer’s Month… 💜

Difficulties with memory is the most common known first symptom of Alzheimer’s, however it’s important to remember that not all memory loss is Alzheimer’s. That’s why recognising the signs early and seeking help from your local GP practice can make a real difference.

🔎 Know the Signs – Early Detection Matters:

🧠 Memory loss
📝 Difficulty concentrating, planning or organizing
🤔 Problems with language and communication
😔 Misunderstanding what is being seen
🕓 Being confused about time and place
😓 Mood changes or difficulty controlling emotions

🧡 Early detection can help people access the support, resources, and treatments they need.

Happy Professional Care Workers’ Week! 🥰

Now in its eighth year, this special week is all about celebrating and recognising the vital contributions of care workers across the UK 👏

Care workers do such incredible and meaningful work, and they absolutely deserve a dedicated week to honour everything they do and celebrate how many lives they impact.

At Prestige Nursing & Care, we want to say a huge thank you to our entire care workforce. You are the heart of what we do. 🩺 Know Your Numbers Week is Here!

What is Know Your Numbers Week all about? Have you ever heard of it?
It’s the UK’s biggest blood pressure testing and awareness campaign! This week is dedicated to encouraging people across the country to check their blood pressure by visiting pop-up "Pressure Stations" in public places.

Why? Because high blood pressure often has no symptoms and many are living with it unaware - but if left untreated, can lead to serious health problems.

👉 This year’s theme: “Looking for the Missing Millions”
Around 5 million adults in the UK may be living with undiagnosed high blood pressure. Early detection can be lifesaving.

Why is high blood pressure dangerous?
It increases your risk of:
✅ Heart attacks
✅ Strokes
✅ Kidney disease

So, what do the numbers mean?
🩸 Ideal blood pressure: under 120/80 mmHg
🧬 Healthy cholesterol: under 200 mg/dL
➡️ If your blood pressure is between 120/80 mmHg and 140/90 mmHg, you may be at risk of developing high blood pressure in the future.

Don’t wait or delay - get your blood pressure checked today at your local GP or pharmacist.
Knowing your numbers could save your life or a family members.

As we age it’s natural to experience occasional forgetfulness with age, but when memory lapses interfere with daily life it could signal something more serious. Conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia can develop gradually, making early recognition and support crucial.

A Memory clinic is a specialist healthcare service that provides expert assessment, diagnosis and personalized care plans, helping individuals and their families navigate these changes with confidence. In the UK, access to a memory clinic usually begins with a referral from a GP.

To find out more about what happens at a memory clinic, and who should consider them, click the following link to our website https://www.prestige-nursing.co.uk/care-advice/what-is-a-memory-clinic/
