As the year draws to a close, it’s common to think of the people who are special to us – especially those we've lost. That’s why we’ve chosen to take part in Light a Candle.

From 15 to 21 December we’ll be posting digital candles in memory of those who can’t be with us during the festive season. If you’d like to create a virtual candle, please click the following link where you can choose a design and write a short message to a loved one.

There's no cost for you or your family to get involved and create an online memorial.

We’re pleased to announce the return of Light a Candle this Christmas!

Taking part in this Christmas’s Light a Candle gives you the opportunity to create online memorials throughout the festive period.

Christmas is a special time to celebrate with family and friends, and our virtual candles are a thoughtful way to pay tribute to loved ones who are no longer with us.

We'll be sharing virtual candles on our page between 15 and 21 December. There's no cost for you or your family to get involved and create an online memorial.

☕️🍽️ The owner of a Cwmbran cafe has thanked the “amazing community” of Pontnewydd for turning from customers into friends.

Ria Dummett and her mum, Elouise, opened Morgan's Cafe in Maendy Way Shops on 8 August 2018. Today, staff and customers have been celebrating the cafe's seventh birthday.

Ria told Cwmbran Life: “It’s crazy that we’ve built up a clientele and customers have been made into friends. It’s been a wicked journey, fair play. It’s brought me out of my shell. Seven years ago, I wouldn’t speak to no-one, I wouldn't pick up a pen or notepad, but now it's brought me out of my shell.

“It’s an amazing community up here, Maendy Way has been brilliant.

“Me and mum took over seven years ago. We have the chip shop in the village, Pontnewdd Fish Bar. I’ve always been in food.

“Mum and dad said ‘let’s give it a go’ seven years ago and then here we are.”
