I am Amy and I am a qualified clinical hypnotherapist, Sleeptalk practitioner, coach and certified yoga teacher (CYT 200) offering a range of solutions that can help you cope with life's challenges - be it overcoming stress and anxiety, improving performance, taking control over a phobia, improving confidence and self esteem, changing behaviours and getting rid of unwanted habits or simply feeling better about yourself (amongst many others).

I first experienced hypnotherapy almost ten years ago and I've not looked back since! Experiencing it from a client's perspective and realising the profound changes it had on me led me to train as a therapist. I have a great passion for helping others and it is my privilege that I can support people to instigate the changes that they would like to make in their lives. I have seen so many wonderful success stories over the years and it has been a real pleasure to be with clients as they work towards what is right and appropriate for them.

I have been working in the area of training and personal development throughout my career having originally graduated with an honours degree in psychology. I built on this with further qualifications in teaching, training, professional coaching, clinical hypnotherapy and hypnobirthing. Working as a practitioner in this area for many years across the public, private and voluntary sector, I have found hypnotherapy to be an effective way of helping people to overcome barriers that are impeding their lives. I have worked with individuals and groups across the UK, Ireland and internationally to identify the personal and/ or team outcomes that are important to them. By tapping into their own unique set of skills, resources, and capabilities, I have supported my clients with identifying and implementing the changes they want to see in their lives. My hypnotherapy practice is underpinned by life coaching, self management, neurolinguistic programming (NLP), cognitive behavioural therapy and solution focussed brief therapy principles. Essentially, this means that I work in a direct and goal focussed way: what is it you want to achieve and what is the best way for you to get there?

Today in yin class,we are exploring the third chakra in our seven week series. The manipura chakra (solar plexus) represents us stepping into our personal power. I concerns our self worth, confidence, determination and will; the relationship we have with our selves .

Affirmations to suit this chakra include

🔥 I believe in myself

🔥 I deserve to be seen and heard

🔥 I have the courage to stand up for myself

This class is ideal for anyone who wants a very gentle and mainly floor based practice

We meet Mondays at 9.25

Well I've always been a bit of a 'wear my heart on my sleeve' kind of gal as anyone who knows me in my personal life can attest to. I’m Always a big fan of a good old cry. Though Generally speaking I am pretty good for keeping it under wraps professionally.

Not in my Monday morning class this week however. This week's theme in classes was a celebration of International Women's day in the run up to the day itself - today , March 8th. Whilst I aim to celebrate the amazingness of women every day, with everything that is going on in the world and the awful treatment of women by certain individuals, it was important to me to acknowledge the pain and anger that many of us are collectively feeling.

I got a bit teary as I was expressing this in the intro to my morning class. It caught me by surprise but I guess illuminated the depth of emotion that we can collectively carry as I saw every one nodding and many tearing up too.

When I apologised for my tears, one of my wonderful yoga ladies affirmed: ‘you never apologise for crying’ (thank you K). And she was damn right. It’s something I teach to my children always. It’s something I encourage in somatic yoga every month. It's something I enjoy myself to facilitate release.

My therapeutic practice has shown me what research is beginning to demonstrate; what we repress doesn’t just cause the stuff to disappear. Rather it can emerge in other ways; anxiety, migraines, chronic pain etc.

So my mantra as I honour International Women’s day is that BIG GIRLS DO CRY. And big boys too. Because that anger needs a safe space to discharge. Having a hot bath is lovely. But feeling that somatic release is essential. And lord knows, there’s a lot going on in the world right now that we are entitled to feel angry about.

Today, after a good old cry - immensely cathartic - I emphasise what I have closed each yoga class with this week :

Walk like a woman who knows her tides —
But who also knows she is part of an ocean.

Happy International Women’s Day to ALL women and ALL who support us

Photo of two of my favourite international women after spending a very happy few days with them last week. Love you both. Always grateful for the memories we share and make xx

And if you’d like to join us to celebrate International women’s day today, join a beautiful, softly lit class set to a powerful female backdrop of song. Classes are at 5.10 (vinyasa), 6 and 7.05 💪

This class is the 3rd in a seven week series where we explore the chakras. Monday's class will be all about the manipura - the solar plexus chakra and the centre of our personal power. All the poses are designed to nourish and balance this imortant centre.

Hope someone can avail of her place. Amy x

All set up for yin this morning. We’re doing a 7 week programme of journeying through the chakras. This week is the Swadisthana (sacral) chakra. It concerns our femininity (appropriate with international women’s day coming up), creativity and our passions.

Looking forward to seeing you at 9.25

For those who would like to join us,drop me a line to book your bolster! We relax. A LOT!

Since Christmas, I have been focussing largely on the heart. Many weeks have centred on a compassion/ heart coherence theme. And the feedback has been amazing from those of you who join regularly.

Heart coherence is something that I feel very passionate about embracing and sharing within my yogi tribe. Modern research is beginning to clarify what wisdom traditions have indicated for centuries; when we experience feelings of compassion, or appreciation or love our heart rhythms physiologically shift into a more balanced and coherent pattern.

Findings from Heartmath (those of you who come to classes will recognise heart coherence breath that I frequently share at the beginning of classes) demonstrate that emotions such as love, compassion, kindness are the magic dust to help support a coherent heart and brain. Ultimately supporting calmer emotions and clearer thinking.

Heart‑focused practices are incredibly simple yet deeply moving. You can try it by sitting and focussing in on the area of your heart. Allow the breath to move a little slower than usual and bring to mind someone or something that you love or care for deeply. This beautiful practice can begin to synchronise your heart’s rhythm and align the heart, the brain and the nervous system.

As the heart’s rhythm becomes more coherent, signals are sent to the brain which support stress reduction and cultivate feelings of safety and balance.

When used consistently, this gentle but impactful practice can help loosen and unstick old emotional patterns, soften self judgement and bring ease to body and mind.

Research from Heartmath.org has demonstrated that this can show up in many powerful ways

💓 Greater presence and connection with self and others

💓Better able to navigate pain and challenge

💓Deeper patience and compassion within relationships when amidst challenges

This simple healing tool can be intricately woven into those day to day moments when the going gets tough:

A pause before a challenging conversation to invite in compassion can help shift perception in that moment for instance.

Each time we choose to pause in a given moment and shift to the heart, it strengthens our neurology creating a new inner pattern of awareness. A reminder that love is an active, healing force within us.

Classes this week were a synchronicity of complimentary themes.

💓 In the run up to International Women's Day on March 8th, I wanted to celebrate the amazingness of women.

🎵 We stretched to a beautiful backdrop of song by powerful female artists.

🍊 We honoured the swadisthana/ sacral chakra - centre of our femininity, our passion, our emotional centre. We also stretched into the bladder meridian (running from the inner eye down the spine to the heels, terminating at the baby toe). When functioning optimally, we are managing fear, balancing energy and releasing structural tension.

🌊 Threaded throughout the class was a nod to the tides; water being the element associated with both the sacral and the bladder meridian.

🌒 And as I left my studio on Monday evening, I realised we were in a full moon cycle. A beautiful synchronicity that I hadn't accounted for but greatly appreciated.

🌞 I started the day with a dip in the sea yesterday. Despite a low tide, the sun shining on the water was calling to my soul. It was a bit of a trek to get to the water, but having the salt water on my skin is something that always does my heart good.

For those coming to class on Sunday, we will be repeating this class again so no FOMO needed. It's a really lovely sequence that I have prepared for you and I hope you enjoy the class greatly.
