We support Scottish Commission for People with Learning Disabilities 12 points plan ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘‡

We support Scottish Commission for People with Learning Disabilities 12 points plan ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘‡

SCLD has launched a new 12 Point Plan for Change setting out key priorities for the next Scottish Government.

The plan has been shaped by the voices and experiences of people with learning disabilities and has support from 18 of our partner organisations across the third sector.

As a central priority, the plan asks the next Scottish Government to bring forward an LDAN Bill. The LDAN Bill represents a critical opportunity to address the systemic inequalities and barriers that people with learning disabilities experience every day. And the recently published proposals for LDAN Bill provisions provide a strong basis for an incoming government to progress a Bill early in the next Parliament.

The plan also sets out concrete actions to:

โœ” Improve health outcomes
โœ” Strengthen rights
โœ” Support independent living
โœ” Reform social care
โœ” Build more inclusive communities and workplaces

As we approach the 2026 election, SCLD is asking all political parties and candidates to commit to the 12 Point Plan and work with people with learning disabilities to deliver real change.

With the right policies, attitudes and investment, Scotland can do better โ€“ and build a fairer Scotland where people with learning disabilities can live healthy, independent and fulfilling lives as equal citizens.

Today is World Down Syndrome Day, and this yearโ€™s theme is a vital one: .

Everyone experiences loneliness, but for those with Down syndrome and intellectual disabilities, that isolation is often systemic. It affects families, caregivers, and individuals alike.

The solution? True inclusion.

It means having a seat at the table and a voice in the conversation.

It means friendships that matter and support systems that actually support.

At ARC Scotland, we are proud to champion this cause through:

๐Ÿ‘‰ Our Networks - Creating communities where voices are heard and valued: https://arcscotland.org.uk/networks/

๐Ÿ‘‰ Training & Consultancy - Equipping professionals and organisations to lead with inclusion: https://arcscotland.org.uk/training/

๐Ÿ‘‰ Professional Qualifications - Empowering the workforce with the skills to provide high-quality, person-centered support: https://arcscotland.org.uk/qualifications/

This World Down Syndrome Day, letโ€™s commit to building a world where no one has to walk alone.
