KIPPIELAW SAVED - THANKS TO OVER 2,000 VOICES!

Midlothian Council's Planning Committee met on 18th November to decide which new housing sites would be taken forward for allocation in the next Local Development Plan. We are pleased to inform everyone that the Kippielaw Site will not now be included in the Proposed Plan either as Allocated Site for development within the next ten years or as a long-term site for development beyond ten years.

The Planning Department will now draft the Proposed Plan over the next few months to be ready for approval by the full Council next Spring. There are still a number of important steps in the plan preparation process that will follow agreement of the Proposed Plan, including public consultation, modification following the consultation and examination by the Scottish Government. During the modification and examination stages, there is still scope for changes to be made to the plan prior to final adoption by the Council in 2027.

We will keep everyone informed of progress at each stage of this process.

In the meantime the Campaign Group would like to thank everyone who has supported us over the last few months. Over 2,000 objections from our local community contributed massively to keeping Kippielaw out of the Proposed Plan and demonstrates that local democracy can win the day.

🚗 TRAFFIC UPDATE: Please Plan Your Journey Ahead!

Traffic is very heavy due to road closures, and buses are running on diverted routes. The road from Justin Lees to Morrisons/Eskbank Road is currently closed, and the alternative route will be experiencing significant delays.

To ensure you arrive at your appointment on time, please plan to leave a little earlier than usual. We're coming in to our busiest time of the year and wouldn’t want you to be late for your appointments. If you are running late though, don't stress - just give us a heads up and we'll do our best to accommodate you.
