Buddhism for Modern People: the path to a peaceful lifestyle
Special Event at Atisha Kadampa Meditation Centre, Darlington

Blessing Empowerment of Buddha Shakyamuni
Sat 21st Mar, 10am – 4pm with Buddhist nun, Gen Kelsang Chogma

Buddha Shakyamuni appeared in this world to show how it is possible for each and every one of us to attain the freedom of liberation and enlightenment by transforming our mind. Buddha’s teachings continue to make perfect sense to this day and are still as powerful, beneficial, and effective in modern times – perhaps more now than ever!

In this special day event we will receive the blessings, or inspiring energy, of Buddha Shakyamuni through guided meditations and a traditional Buddhist ceremony led by our Resident Teacher, Gen Kelsang Chogma.

We’ll also receive a commentary to the beautiful Liberating Prayer, a short prayer written by our Founder, Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, which we can use to inspire ourselves to discover our own path to a peaceful and happy lifestyle. This event is about connecting – with Buddha and with a whole community of people who are finding and following this path right now in the heart of the North East. Our world needs this – we need this!

Everybody is welcome – no experience of Buddhism or meditation is required.

£30 includes a light lunch (half-price for Monthly Members)

Refuge Retreat
Sun 8th Mar 10am – 3:30pm

This retreat provides a special opportunity to explore and deepen our mind of refuge, which is our actual protection from pain and problems.

Our actual refuge is the medicine of Buddha’s teachings, which prevents the sufferings of our body and mind. Buddha is the doctor who provides us with this medicine and encourages us to take it, and the Sangha are our pure spiritual friends who assist us in our practice. These are the three jewels of refuge, to which we turn for both temporary and ultimate protection.

Through practicing Buddhist refuge, we gain confidence and strength to make authentic spiritual progress. Through this we build stable peace, joy and freedom within our own heart that we can then share with others.

The retreat will be guided by Gen Kelsang Chogma.

Timetable:
10 – 11:15am Retreat Session One
11:45am – 1pm Retreat Session Two
2:15 – 3:30pm Retreat Session Three
4:30 – 5:30pm Wishfulfilling Jewel with tsog offering puja (this session is free – everybody welcome)

£5 per session or £12 per day (Free for Monthly Members)
This is an in-depth retreat so is suitable for those with some experience of Kadampa meditation. Please email us at info@meditationindarlington.org if you would like to attend this retreat or have any questions.
