Extra workshops at Rise & Bloom
As our members will know we have next step and more in depth or high price point workshops available at Our cottage in Hurworth and literally anyone can attend these. In the past we’ve done vision boards, terrariums and resin to name but a few.
We’ve made it easier to find these workshops by visiting www.pimmsandneedles.co.uk and finding the Extra workshops section where you can view everything we’ve got coming up and book on.
These workshops are great for gifts or a way of experiencing new things that we often can’t cover at our evening classes.

We made the papers!
Old Dogs New Tricks Men’s Club made the paper this week and we would love you all to share the link to the write up.
As the group grows, so do the benefits in the lives of those who attend.
We welcome men age 40+ FOR FREE to attend this fully funded group who meet once a month on the last Thursday 7-9pm at Blackwell meadows Darlington to enjoy different activities, connection and enrichment.
This month we are painting with acrylics and the theme is “highland cow” but we have lots lined up to enjoy.

✏️Collective Art✏️ramsey1973 who is a local artist and tutor has been running our life drawing sessions at many groups and we have loved this particular task. Getting different members to focus on specific parts of the body and then everyone placing their results together to create a full form, with interesting results.
Brian uses many quick draw techniques to push comfort zones and participant out of their heads and try to get more down onto paper. Often over thinking it can ruin amazing work and talent.

What do you ❤️ about crafting!

A love for creating things can awaken something in us all if we find the right craft. It can bring you joy, help boost mental health, create connections with others when shared and also awaken your inner child, who is often lost in the troubles of day to day life.

Fella's Unite
We have finally decided on the subject of our next Gents sessions at Old Dogs New Tricks Men’s Club. We have Philippa joining us from The Creation Station Darlington who teaches fabulous ‘Sip and Paint’ art workshops so participants will be working from a template to create their very own masterpiece.
☀️🐮We put a vote to the group for a subject matter. Either Highland Cow or Sunset in Venice and the Cow was the most requested.

🍃 at Barnard Castle group 🍃
Last week our lovely Barny group had Jess from Knot worth the tassel over to help them to thread, knot, comb out and mount these lovely macrame feathers/leaves, making some great wall hanging to enjoy at home or gift to a friend.
Using some gorgeous pastel and earthy toned cords and wooden dowel, the ladies each went home with something they could treasure.

🌈School holiday workshops🌈
Rise & Bloom have some wonderful workshops coming up this (Darlington area) half term and we would love you to join us with the kids. Both workshops, hosted by Charlotte are priced for two people to make either a length of bunting or a mosaic.
🧵 Bunting workshop- Tue 24th Feb 11am-1pm £45 per couple.
Pick your fabrics then stitch, sew and applique your length of bunting and learn all the techniques involved. You’ll have the chance to use a sewing machine, and don’t worry if you’re new to sewing — we’ll guide you both through the basics, including how to stitch simple seams.
👨‍👩‍👧 Suitable for ages 8+ accompanied by an adult.

🌈Mosaic Workshop- Fri 27th 11am-1pm £45 per couple.
Come and get your hands dirty at our Mosaic Rainbow Workshop — a relaxed, hands-on session where you and your child can create something truly special together 🌈
Working as a team, you’ll design and make a bright mosaic rainbow to take home, perfect for adding to a plant pot or displaying with pride.
🧩 What to expect:
All mosaic pieces are pre-cut, so there’s no cutting involved, but they can be sharp. This session is absolutely fine for little hands with adult supervision, making it a great shared activity for learning and creating together.
👨‍👩‍👧 Who’s it for?
Children aged 8 and over, accompanied by an adult.

🌼Mosaics🌼
Hayley was back last week at Coxhoe making Mosaics with our members. With lots of coloured tiles to cut, shape and glue onto the backing and all the info on how you can attach them to plant pots or a wall at home and the grout supplied to do so.
This is also a wonderful way to use up broken pottery or old broken/unused tiles and such fun to do with the kids/grandkids.

📖Educate, Inspire and Encourage
The theme for this years International women’s day in March is “Give to Gain” and is about giving support, resources and advocacy. 👭
To celebrate we are setting up a book giving table at our March sessions and are encouraging members to bring along a book they have read that inspired them, something they found motivational and encouraging or insightful or just a book that was a really good read and made them take some much needed time out. We are asking them to write in the cover what they loved about it or add a little notlet to the book.
📌One rule- You can only take one if you bring one.
A book swop is a lovely way to share some amazing literature, gaining new experiences from others and giving a little of what you've loved and enjoyed back to someone else. If you're not a member but wanted to join us in March as a guest (where space allows), you're also welcome to join in on this too.
Perhaps this could also be something you suggest doing at your workplace, social group or between female friends and family members, to celebrate the women in your life and "Give to Gain" for this years International womens day.
