36 years since you were taking from us! 36!

I’ve outlived my own dad by nearly 12 years. He was only 30 years old.

It’s so wrong. I’m all kinds of mad and upset today. But, I push on and continue doing what I’m doing.

Hope you’re really proud when you look down at me. I try my best every day. I face a lot of hurdles and come up against a lot of people who, for some reason, want to ruin me and what I’ve built but I fight on. All for you dad.

3 years ago today the case became live again and all my appeals were released on the BBC and ITV.

It’s the anniversary of my dad’s murder in a few days - I feel this today.

Having a very public business and phone number quite often leads to me receiving prank calls. I can always tell they’re pranks because it’s usually kids in a group with their friends laughing in the background and they say some ridiculous things. They clearly don’t think their actions through because they never hide their phone number.

I usually just hang up and forget about it. However, yesterday afternoon I received a call from an “unknown number” so someone had gone to the effort of withholding it. It was, in my opinion, a young woman who sounded very distressed and upset. I think she told me her name was Shabina but it was difficult to make much sense of due to, what sounded like, her hysterically crying.

She asked if this was a funeral service and then went on to tell me she had had an argument with her friend and then she had thrown them off of a bridge. She didn’t say what area or give any details of the friend.

I honestly couldn’t decipher this from prank or reality (so if it was a prank then your acting skills are phenomenal).

Anyway, it was on my mind enough to ring the police and inform them of the phone call - I couldn’t bear the thought of not ringing it in and then later finding out that this was in fact true.

The point of this post is - prank calls are quite frankly ridiculous. It’s something I deal with often.

Please, check on friends and if you know anyone who was upset yesterday talk to them about why. Also, please speak with your children and help them to understand that this sort of thing isn’t acceptable and where I am unsure if it’s a prank or not I will inform the police which could lead to them getting into trouble.

URGENT FUNERAL PROCESSION UPDATE.

Unfortunately due to distance, hills and weather the decision has been made to set off with Ellis and the horses from KC Funeral Service on Bridge Street rather than from Limes Avenue.

Anyone who would’ve been leaving from Andrea’s is welcome to come to Bridge Street and follow from there.

I’m sincerely sorry for the last minute change of plan but ultimately the safety for the horses and Ellis has to be top priority and this is the best for all.

Today is all about you Uncle Merv or as I call you Uncle Scuzz Bucket.

I’m sorry I can’t be there for your send off - the start time made it impossible for me to travel over and I’m also supporting a number of families at KC too. But you will be in my thoughts all day and as soon as I come back to Mansfield I will come and pay your forever bed a visit.

We had some great times together when I was a child. I will always cherish those memories and laugh at the mischief I got up to with you.

You were a constant male figure in my life after my dad was taken. You loved me like your own and I gave you lots of cheek and stress like I was your own 😂

You’re at peace now. You’re back to full health up there and you’re reunited with your family.

Ellis Luke Spencer Gorman sadly passed away on 22nd January 2026.

Ellis’ funeral will take place on Friday 13th February 2026 at 3pm at Pleasington Crematorium.

Ellis will leave from his parent’s house by horse & carriage at 2pm.

Anyone wishing to attend is welcome to wear what they’re comfortable in and if you have a pair of Nike TN’s then all the better. A splash of lime green would also be welcomed.

Following the service the family would like to invite you to join them at The Punch Hotel in Darwen to celebrate Ellis’ life.

Donations in Ellis’ memory would be gratefully received and the money will be put towards purchasing a memorial tree and plaque.

Due to the expected attendance numbers we have also organised a live stream of the funeral so that those who may not get inside the chapel can still watch it or for those who many not be able to attend.

John Steven Whittle sadly passed away on 16th January 2026.

John’s funeral will take place at St Cuthberts Church on 6th February at 12pm followed by burial at Darwen Eastern Cemetery at 1pm.

The family would like to invite you to Darwen Cricket Club after the burial to celebrate John’s life.
