Barton Surgery The Barton Surgery is the only GP practice in Dawlish and is situated next to Dawlish Community Hospital.

We have 14700 patients, mainly resident in Dawlish and Dawlish Warren, and the practice also looks after as many as 3,500 holiday makers per year.

Christmas and New Year Closure Dates🎄

We will be closed Thursday 25th of December and Friday 26th, we will re-open on Monday 29th of December.

The last day to hand in prescription requests before Christmas is Wednesday 17th of December.

We will be closed again on Thursday 1st of January and re-open on Friday 2nd January.

STOP SMOKING ADVICE 🚭

We can help you to stop smoking.
Many people don’t realise that their GP can help them quit smoking.

The practice has stop smoking counsellors who are able to advise and support patients wishing to give up smoking.

Lung Cancer Screening

The NHS recommends that people aged 55 to 74 years old who have ever smoked have lung cancer screening.
Barton Surgery patients are now being called as part of this national screening programme to provide a short telephone appointment to ask some questions about your lung health.
You may then be offered a lung scan to check for any early signs of lung cancer.

You do not need to call or visit your GP, you will be contacted by the screening service if eligible. If you have received an invite and have any queries please contact the screening service direct ; call 01872 307 138 or email

Business Administration level 3 qualification

RECEPTIONIST/CARE CO-ORDINATOR🥰📞🖥️🖨️🎧
37.5 HOURS PER WEEK
The position offered is a full-time post, however, we would be very happy to consider part time hours for the right candidate(s)
Pay from £7.55 per hour (in line with Apprenticeship Salary)
25 days holiday plus Bank Holidays

We’ve supported many staff through their apprenticeships and have an excellent pass/success rate.
We’re looking for a professional, caring and hard-working individual who can deliver excellent customer service whilst embracing our values and following our policies and procedures.
The purpose of the role is to:
Offer general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone
Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way
Undertake a variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of the practice
Facilitate effective communication between patients, members the primary health care team, secondary care and other associated healthcare agencies
