A wonderful celebration at Claremont for Diwali!
Over the last week we have enjoyed a variety of culture packed activities to mark the special event including lantern making, a traditional meal, a quiz, a virtual trip to India, finishing off with a very special visit from the Exeter Hindu student society from Exeter University.
We welcomed the girls on Thursday afternoon. We started off with introductions and a prayer called an Aarti. After this we listened to a talk on the meaning of Diwali and significant events in the Hindu community. We listened to a beautiful performance of 'I can't help falling in love with you', where we all joined in! We were then able to watch some traditional dancing, followed by Indian snacks and tea! Each of those living with us received individual gifts, it was a special afternoon filled with friendship, kindness, culture and connection! Thank you so much to the girls!
