British Pie Week at St Winifreds Care Home 🥧

We couldn’t let British Pie Week (2–8 March) pass without getting creative with our baking skills! Our residents enjoyed making their own apple pies, carefully preparing the pastry and filling them with sweet apples before our Chef Sue popped them into the oven for us. 👩‍🍳

After a relaxing tea and biscuit break, it was time for the best part — tasting our freshly baked pies. They went down a treat and we were all feeling very proud of our efforts! 😋👏

❤️ St Winifreds Care Home celebrates a heart-warming Valentine’s Day ❤️

We had a lovely time celebrating Valentine’s Day, sharing thoughtful moments and sweet surprises throughout the day.

In the morning, we handed out our homemade ‘Sweets for my Sweet’ treats, each with a special pocket heart reminding everyone they are loved. 💕 The gesture truly touched hearts and meant so much to our residents.

In the afternoon, we enjoyed delicious cupcakes made by our Chef James 🧁 along with a shandy or two! Some residents and their spouses spent precious time together in our softly lit lounge with romantic music playing, making the day even more special. 🎶

Getting creative for the Big Garden Birdwatch at St Winifreds Care Home 🐦

Recently, our residents took part in the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch with a fun-filled day of bird-themed activities. We started with a lively word game, seeing how many birds we could name using the alphabet — and we did brilliantly! 🅰️🐤

In the afternoon, we rolled up our sleeves to make yoghurt pot bird feeders – mixing bird seed, crushed cornflakes and lard (messy but great fun! 🙌) and everyone enjoyed getting involved.

Now we can watch our feathered friends enjoy their new feeders in our garden, as we support them in these colder months. ❄️🐦

Burns Night baking at St Winifreds Care Home 🍪🧑‍🍳

To celebrate Burns Night on 25 January, our residents enjoyed a lovely baking session, making traditional Scottish shortbread together. From shaping fingers to classic petticoat tails, everyone got involved. 🙌

Once baked, the shortbread was enjoyed with a cuppa and shared around our Home — a delicious way to celebrate! 💛

Cheese, wine and great company at St Winifreds Care Home 🧀🍷

On Tuesday 20 January, we celebrated National Cheese Lover’s Day with a delicious cheese tasting afternoon. Our residents enjoyed a selection of cheeses with crackers, grapes and a glass of wine — scrumptious! 🍇✨

From Cheddar and Stilton to smoked cheeses and a surprise favourite garlic and herb vegan spread, it was a lovely afternoon of chatting, tasting and enjoying time together

Games and good fun at St Winifreds Care Home 🎉

Last week our residents enjoyed a brilliant bingo session, led by our caller Ruby, who did a fantastic job! 🎱✨ There were prizes to be won, along with tea and biscuits all round. ☕🍪

The fun continued with our favourite hoopla game, helping everyone stay active while having lots of laughs and cheering each other on. 🙌

A lovely day of games, smiles and refreshments to finish. 😊

🎄Christmas party fun and a visit from Santa at St Winifreds Care Home!🎅

Our St Winifreds Care Home Christmas party was full of festive cheer as Geoff Dean performed festive classics and 1960s favourites. Everyone sang and danced along — and we even had a special visit from a very cheerful snowman! ❄️🎶

After the music, we enjoyed a delicious buffet prepared by Chef Sue and our Kitchen Team — the perfect way to start our Christmas celebrations. 🍰✨

We've also had a visit from Santa himself who arrived in his sleigh to greet our residents and team! There were warm smiles, friendly chats and hugs all round. ❤️

What a fantastic afternoon we had when Tickled Pink Productions returned for their brilliant Christmas Panto! 🎅🎶 There was singing, dancing, laughter and even a few festive costumes as everyone joined in the fun. 💃🪗

We had a joyful afternoon at St Winifreds Care Home when Minister Pat visited with a local choir, filling our Home with Christmas carols and festive cheer. Residents loved singing along and enjoying the blessing and reading — a perfect start to the season. 🎶✨

In our Winifreds Pantry Baking Club, residents also had great fun making cupcakes to share at tea time. Lots of mixing, decorating and chatting made for a lovely morning together. 🧁💛

Our residents created colourful candles and wreaths, filling the tables with sparkle and cheer. We can’t wait to display their beautiful creations around our Home for Christmas. We loved taking part in the Cake4Kindness campaign on Thursday 20 November here at St Winifreds Care Home. Our residents and team baked a delicious selection of homemade cakes to donate to United Families UK, supporting local families through their community pantry. It was a lovely way to share kindness, connection and a few smiles! A big thank you to Tracy, Nisha, Sheeja, Ant and our new Chef Sue for their wonderful efforts. 🍰💛

This week at St Winifreds Care Home, we’ve begun our Christmas crafting — it always seems to creep up on us! Our residents have been busy planning what festive creations they’d like to make, and our tables have been full of colour and sparkle ✨🎄. With colouring, painting, glitter, glue, snowflakes and stars, there’s been plenty of festive cheer as everyone gets creative together. We do love our craft sessions here — and of course, a few refreshments along the way make it even more enjoyable! 🔔🖍️
