To mark National Animal Day we enjoyed a fun-filled afternoon of animal-themed bingo at St Winifreds Care Home on Friday ✏️. Our residents had great fun spotting all the different animal pictures on their cards and calling out “Bingo!” when they won 😃. There were some great prizes up for grabs, including jewellery, body washes, wallets, and watches for the gents — all enjoyed alongside a comforting cup of tea and biscuits. It was a lovely way to spend a sociable afternoon together. 🙌

On Sunday 5 October we continued the celebrations with a wonderful tea party in honour of Grandparents Day 👵. Residents, families, and some delightful grandchildren joined us for tea and cupcakes, creating a warm and joyful atmosphere 🧁. Everyone agreed it was the perfect way to celebrate — sharing sweet treats, special moments, and plenty of love. A big thank you to everyone who joined us for such a memorable afternoon! 🙏🩷

On Tuesday 30 September, we held our Winifreds Pantry Baking Club, where our ladies Clare, Esme, Cath, and Joan, along with our two lovely gents, Kevin and Derrick, joined in for a very special baking session. With the wonderful support of Ben and Julie from our Catering Team, we set about making six rich and fruity Christmas cakes ready for our festive celebrations here at St Winifreds Care Home. 🎄 Each of our residents took on a different task – from creaming the butter and sugar, to cracking and beating the eggs, to chopping and preparing the cherries. Our team member Heather then had the joy of combining all the ingredients into the final mixes, filling the room with the delicious aroma of Christmas baking. 🍒 Ben kindly then baked the cakes for us and Julie helped us clean and tidy up after the session. Everyone who took part thoroughly enjoyed themselves and said it was lovely to do something that they'd always done at home.A huge thank you to all our enthusiastic bakers – now we can’t wait for the festive season to arrive so we can all enjoy a slice (or two!) together. 😃

Here at St Winifreds Care Home we enjoyed a fabulous Coffee Morning in support of Macmillan Cancer Support last week. The day was filled with community spirit, plenty of tea and coffee, and of course, an abundance of delicious cakes! ☕️🧁 Our residents and visitors had fun taking part in games such as 'Guess the Weight of the Cake' and 'Find the Coffee Bean', which added lots of excitement to the morning! This charity is especially meaningful to our colleague Chelsea, who organised the whole event with colleague Siobhan brilliantly – everyone agreed they did an amazing job. 🙌 Special thanks too to our lovely ladies who visited Winifreds Pantry to bake shortbread and chocolate fudge for the fundraiser – your treats were a big hit! Thanks to the wonderful support from everyone involved, we raised over ￡1️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ for such an important charity. 🥳

At St Winifreds Care Home, we had a fantastic time celebrating 'International Talk Like a Pirate Day'! Our residents and team got into the spirit with fun dice games, lively pirate shanties, and plenty of dressing up – though we did swap the rum for coke and lemonade, of course! 🍻 The day’s activities were brilliantly organised by our team member Siobhan, along with our student who visits twice a week. A huge thank you to them both for giving us a brilliant day of swashbuckling shenanigans that everyone thoroughly enjoyed! 🏴‍☠️

On Saturday 13 September, our residents at St Winifreds Care Home enjoyed a cosy movie morning – the perfect way to spend a rainy, windy day 🎬. With warm blankets and cups of popcorn, we settled down to watch 'The Bells of St Mary’s'. Everyone agreed it was a fabulous old-fashioned film. Sometimes there really is nothing better than snuggling up with a good movie and tasty treat. 🍿

Looking ahead to this Friday, we’re preparing to celebrate 'International Talk Like a Pirate Day'! 🎨 We love any excuse for crafting, so our residents got busy making colourful parrots to accompany their pirate costumes. Everyone loved choosing bold colours to use and gluing on bright feathers. Fabulous! 🏴‍☠️

We had not one but two wonderful celebrations on the same day last week here at St Winifreds Care Home. Kevin and Sally marked an incredible milestone – their golden wedding anniversary, celebrating 50 years of marriage 💍. On the same day, our lovely resident Tony celebrated his birthday 🎁.

Kevin and Sally enjoyed a cosy afternoon together with cake and tea, surrounded by beautiful decorations and special photos capturing their life together. It was the perfect way to honour such a momentous occasion. We all agreed they make a truly handsome couple – congratulations! 🥳

Meanwhile Tony was delighted with his delicious homemade birthday cake and loved opening his cards and presents to celebrate his special day. Many happy returns, Tony! 🎂

We had the most wonderful afternoon when Tickled Pink joined us on Tuesday 9 September for a pantomime performance full of fun and fantastic music. Their lively show had everyone singing, clapping, and even dancing along to familiar favourites 🎼.

Our residents were truly entertained and loved all the costume changes, some joined in by wearing sparkly hats themselves. The atmosphere was buzzing with joy from start to finish. As you can see from the smiles, it was an afternoon to remember 😃.

A huge thank you to Tickled Pink – we were indeed 'tickled pink' by your brilliant performance! 🎭🩷

We do love a bit of Elvis here at St Winifreds Care Home, so we all had a fantastic time celebrating our very own Elvis Day last week 🎙️.

The morning began with word games based on Elvis song titles, which really got everyone’s brains working and set the mood perfectly for the day ahead 😃.

By the afternoon, excitement was high as 'Elvis' himself arrived to join us. Our residents loved singing and dancing along to the classics, filling our Home with music and plenty of happy memories.

It was especially touching to see Maria, who speaks several languages, singing 'Wooden Heart' in German alongside Elvis. And for Paul, a lifelong fan, the day was made extra special when Elvis paid him a personal visit in his room – something he will treasure 🕺.

It was a truly wonderful day, and our residents are already looking forward to seeing The King again soon 👑🎼!

Our residents from St Winifreds Care Home enjoyed a wonderful morning out on Friday 5 September with a scenic drive through the beautiful Elham Valley, leading to a visit to The Fifth Trust. We were warmly welcomed with hot drinks and freshly baked scones – still warm from the oven – topped with jam and cream. Delicious! 😋

The café offered stunning views of the countryside, and we admired the grapes growing nearby, adding to the charm of the visit. The Fifth Trust is a fantastic charity supported by adults with learning difficulties, who also create the delicious treats we enjoyed 🍇.

It truly was a delightful trip, filled with great company and beautiful surroundings – everyone had a brilliant time and can’t wait for our next outing 🙌🚐.

We had an amazing day when our residents at St Winifreds Care Home enjoyed a lovely outing to Pegwell Bay, Ramsgate. The morning sun shone beautifully, creating the perfect setting for a relaxing trip. We stopped at the Viking Ship café, where everyone enjoyed hot drinks and cake while sitting in the shade and taking in the peaceful surroundings 😌.

It was especially delightful to watch the many dogs playing nearby – they brought plenty of joy and sparked lovely conversations, with our residents even making a few new furry friends. The impressive Viking ship also became a great talking point, encouraging reminiscence and happy chats among the group 🛶.

On our way back, we paused at Deal beach to admire the stunning views of the pier, which was the perfect way to round off our morning together. The outing was filled with conversation and shared memories – a truly wonderful experience for everyone 🤗.
