Well, the presents are wrapped, the food shop has been completed & the reindeer food has been scattered! ๐ŸŽ„๐ŸŽ โœจ

2025 has been such a truly wonderful, fun filled year - looking back at photos from this time last year makes me a little emotional, everyone has grown and progressed SO much in the 12 months! ๐Ÿฅน

Weโ€™ve also had such a lovely festive season - full of laughter with friends, playgroup parties and time spent taking in the special moments in between ๐Ÿค

I hope everyone has a wonderful, wholesome Christmas and a Happy New Year, see you in 2026! ๐Ÿฅ‚๐ŸŒธ

Itโ€™s NOT just play doughโ€ฆ
Itโ€™s one of the easiest ways to support your childโ€™s development through play. โญ

Play dough is one of the most effective sensory materials in early childhood because it is open-ended, adaptable for all ages, and deeply engaging. Even better, it can be made easily at home.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Simple No-Cook Play Dough Recipe
โ€ข 1 cup flour
โ€ข ยฝ cup salt
โ€ข 1 tbsp oil
โ€ข ยฝ cup warm water (add gradually)
โ€ข Optional: food colouring or scent

Mix until a soft dough forms. Adjust with flour or water as needed.

Play dough may look simple, but the learning behind it is anything but.

A little glimpse into our November here at Bloom! ๐ŸŒธ๐Ÿ‚๐ŸŽ†

A wonderful month filled with birthday celebrations, cosy indoor moments with friends, exploring in the great outdoors and getting messy at playgroup!

Weโ€™ve also begun to look towards the festive season and the beautiful moments that it brings!โœจ๐ŸŽ„ (did someone say craft time?)

This weeks invitations to play ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ‚๐ŸŽƒ

We have enjoyed exploring in the nature finds tray, investigating at the sensory table, lots of imaginary play in the autumn kitchen, being creative with playdough & seasonal loose parts - as well as lots of outdoor play washing pumpkins in the mud kitchen!

We have also been out and about attending our weekly messy playgroups and learning together sessions!

Truly my favourite season for such lovely and inviting play opportunities and experiences ๐ŸŒธ๐Ÿงก

Water beads are small and can easily be swallowed without detection. As they bathe in stomach fluids, they expand to many times their original size, posing a serious risk of blockage in a childโ€™s bowel.

Some water beads grow to more than 15 times their original size, up to the size of golf balls.

The beads donโ€™t show up on X-ray, so finding them can be really complicated and the child may need major surgery to remove them.

Thatโ€™s why they arenโ€™t recommended for under 5s.

Safer Eating โ€“ New wording in an EYFS 2025 (in place in September) will refer to โ€˜Food and drink facilitiesโ€™.

A few headlines: ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿ‘‡

๐Ÿ’šThere MUST always be someone with a valid paediatric first aid certificate in a room where children are eating.

๐Ÿ’™Ongoing discussions between providers and parents about managing allergies and intolerances MUST take place.

๐Ÿ’›Food MUST be prepared in a way to prevent choking.

๐Ÿ’œBabies and young children should be seated safely in a highchair or appropriately sized low chair while eating.

๐ŸงกChildren MUST always be within sight and hearing of a member of staff whilst eating.

Some helpful websites to check out more important messages about safe eating.

I hope everyone is doing okay this holiday season ๐ŸŽ…๐Ÿผ Please donโ€™t be disheartened by things you see online and know that what youโ€™re doing is more than enough โœจ

This Christmas, homes will be filled with light-up decorations, festive tea lights, singing Santas and flashing Christmas wands. But these โ€“ and many cheap toys โ€“ are powered by button batteries that can badly hurt or kill a child if swallowed.

Thatโ€™s why itโ€™s so important to check that button battery compartments are secure. If the battery on any product is accessible please keep it out of reach of children.

Learn more: https://capt.org.uk/button-battery-safety/

Throughout December our Champ will be sharing key dangers around the home and simple things you can do to keep children safe. Please follow along and share his adventures.
