131 local Healthwatch services have signed an open letter urging the government to protect independent public voice in healthcare. A parliamentary petition is open to support this cause.

We are asking the government to: • Revisit its decision to abolish local independent services that speak up for the public • Consult with the public to codesign a service which meets their needs and supports the NHS to realise its ambitions • Invest in and strengthen independent services

More than three million people are currently living with cancer in the UK, which continues to be the leading cause of death in the country.

Patients have a vital role to play in making this happen. By speaking up about what’s working well and what isn’t, they can help shape better care for everyone.

We investigated why more patients need to speak up about their care. Read our blog to find out more. https://www.healthwatch.co.uk/blog/2025-10-24/cancer-care-why-your-voice-matters
