💬3 reflections that shaped me as a Person Centred Therapist💬

☁️What inspired you to become a therapist?
This is an easy one….No matter where I was - shopping having, a walk, I would always find myself talking in depth to someone about their life and I started to think that maybe this was something that I could do as job. As there was clearly a need for a listening ear and empathy.

☁️ What personal value guides you through your practice?
As a person and therapist there is very little difference in my core values. I am a strong believer in fairness and therefore have a huge empathy for life’s injustices. I believe strongly that with time, challenging ourselves, we can change and have a better way understanding ourselves. I try to find joy in the simplest of things.

☁️ What is one moment when you learned something new about yourself?
Each day can throw up new challenges and learning experiences. I learn constantly from various aspects of my life. Within my work with clients I learn constantly the significance of being a part of an honest and open relationship. This is something that I endeavour to practice with my personal relationships. Life can be hard and sometimes in those times we lose sight of hope.

🗓️ 19th November 2025

International Men’s Day is a good moment to speak openly and honestly.

Life can be tough and many men carry a lot without saying very much at all. Not because they do not feel it, but because they were taught to get on with things and to hold it together. Silence can become a habit and over time it can feel like the only option.

As a person centred therapist, I work with many men who arrive unsure about talking or unsure about what therapy should look like. What often matters most is giving them a space where they can show up as a person not a role or a responsibility. A space where they do not have to make sense of everything straight away. A space where they are listened to without judgement or pressure.

In the room men talk about their hopes, their worries, their histories, and the things they have never spoken out loud before. It is not about fixing them…is about knowing them. It is about helping them understand themselves and feel understood.

💙If you are a man reading this you do not have to keep everything inside. You do not have to carry the weight alone.

☁️Reaching out is not weakness. It is a step toward feeling like yourself again!

☁️This week, allow yourself to notice the subtle gifts that surround you, to pause when your instinct is to rush, to soften when life feels demanding, to open your heart to the calm that rises from the simplest of things.

✨ The warmth of a drink held between your hands

✨ A smile that softens the edges of the day

✨ The calm rhythm of routine when everything feels uncertain

✨ The reassurance that you are allowed to slow down and simply be

These small moments are not insignificant.

They steady the heart.

They remind us that meaning is found in presence rather than perfection.

💙Men’s mental health 💙

To the men who keep going even when everything inside feels heavy, this is for you.

You carry so much on your shoulders, often without saying a word. You protect, provide and push through because that is what you were taught to do. But beneath that strength, there is a heart that feels deeply, that hurts, that worries, that longs for peace.

You do not always have to be the strong one. You do not always have to have the answers. It is not weakness to admit that things feel hard, or that you are tired of pretending to be okay. It is courage to speak up. It is healing to let someone in.

If you are fighting battles no one sees, please know that you are not alone. There is no shame in struggling. There is no shame in feeling. There is no shame in asking for help.

Take a breath. You are allowed to slow down. You are allowed to choose yourself. One small step toward healing is still progress.

Your energy is your foundation. When it is low, everything feels heavier. When it is steady, you think more clearly, connect more deeply and manage life’s challenges with greater ease.

This week is about recognising that your energy is not limitless. It needs to be protected, respected and renewed.

Start by noticing where your energy goes each day. Are you investing it in what truly matters, or spending it on worries, obligations or habits that leave you feeling empty?

Rest is not a luxury. It is a responsibility to yourself and those who rely on you.

✨ Pay attention to what drains you and make gentle adjustments

✨ Choose moments that refuel you and restore your clarity

✨ Allow yourself to say no when your energy is already stretched

✨ Remember that slowing down often helps you move forward with more purpose

Honouring your energy is not selfish. It is a quiet but powerful form of self-respect.

Holding on can feel like safety. It can feel like control. It can even feel like love.
But sometimes, the tightness we carry is the very thing keeping us from peace.

This week, I invite you to let go gently. Not with force, not with pressure, but with compassion.

✨ Release the need to control what is already finding its own way

✨ Loosen your grip on stories that no longer tell the truth of who you are

✨ Forgive yourself for the moments you held on because you did not know how to let go

Letting go is not weakness. It is courage in its softest form. It is choosing to trust the unfolding, even when you cannot see what comes next.

You do not need to rush this. You do not need to be ready.
Just breathe, and let the smallest part of you soften.

That is where peace begins.

💙 Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month 💙

🗓️ November 2025

Dear man who is tired of being strong,

I see you.

You have carried the weight of the world on your shoulders for so long that it almost feels normal. You have learned to smile through pain, to nod and say you are fine even when your heart feels heavy.

The world told you that strength means silence. That emotion is something to be hidden. That asking for help makes you weak.

But none of that is true.

There is strength in being honest.
There is courage in feeling.
There is power in reaching out before the darkness grows too deep.

You are allowed to rest.
You are allowed to cry.
You are allowed to not have all the answers.
You are not a burden for struggling.
You are human.
And being human means you are allowed to heal.

If you are reading this, know that your story matters. Your pain is seen, your feelings are valid, and there is support waiting for you when you are ready to take that step.

Sometimes the world becomes so loud that it drowns out the quiet wisdom within us. When we take a moment to pause, breathe, and turn inward, we begin to reconnect with what truly matters.

Listening inward is not about perfection or control. It is about presence, about giving yourself permission to slow down, to notice, and to respond with care rather than noise.

This gentle practice begins with small acts of awareness:

✨ Pause before responding, feel before reacting.

✨ Write down what feels true, give your emotions space to move.

✨ Spend a quiet minute in stillness, your inner knowing is waiting there.

You already hold the answers you seek. They live quietly beneath the surface, ready to be heard when you soften and listen with compassion.

☁️ Trust the process ☁️

Some days, healing feels like peace.
Other days, it feels like chaos.

The truth is, growth is rarely neat. It is messy, uncomfortable, and often hard to see while you are in it 🌿

This week, try to trust your process, not the one you think you should be in, but the one you are actually living.

Let yourself be where you are, even if it is not where you thought you would be.

✨ Let yourself rest without guilt
✨ Let yourself cry without apology
✨ Let yourself celebrate the smallest wins
✨ Let yourself start again, even if you feel unsure
✨ Notice the tiny shifts that no one else can see, they still count
✨ Remember that rest, stillness and even tears are part of moving forward
✨ Every pause, every stumble, every quiet act of courage matters
You do not have to have it all figured out 

You just have to keep showing up for yourself, one breath at a time 💛

🎭The Mask We Wear 🎭

So many of us wear invisible masks every single day.
A calm smile when inside we are breaking.
A polite “I’m fine” when our chest feels tight.
A steady voice when our heart trembles.

We learn early in life that showing pain can feel unsafe,that vulnerability might be “too much.”
So we build walls. We perform. We hide.

But here is the quiet truth.
You were never meant to live behind a mask.
You deserve to be seen, fully, softly, honestly.

🛋️This room has the privilege of witnessing that moment.
It sees people for who they truly are.
It watches as masks are gently laid down,as stories unfold, as courage begins to breathe again.

In this space, there is no judgement, no pressure to be fixed.

💛Just warmth, safety, and trust.
Just space to be you, without performance or pretence.

Person centred therapy is not about labels or quick solutions.
It is about connection.
It is about rediscovering yourself beneath the layers you have learned to wear.
It is about remembering that you are enough, exactly as you are.

If you have been holding it all together for too long,
perhaps this is your invitation to rest.
To lay down the mask.
To let someone truly see you.
