We’ve had a wonderfully busy couple of days celebrating Christmas at Springwood House 🎄 Our residents were treated to a delicious three-course Christmas meal, lovingly prepared by our fantastic (and camera-shy!) cook, Pauline — it was absolutely wonderful.

On Boxing Day, the celebrations continued with a cheese and wine tasting afternoon, which was thoroughly enjoyed by residents and visiting family members alike.

A huge thank you to our amazing carers and staff for helping to make Christmas so special for everyone at Springwood House. ❤️

This Christmas, as staff, we want to reflect on what we are truly thankful for.

We are thankful for the residents who trust us, inspire us, and remind us every day why our work matters. Your stories, smiles, resilience, and sense of humour bring meaning to even the hardest days. The small moments we share — a chat, a laugh, a hand held — stay with us far beyond our shifts.

We are thankful for the families who place their loved ones in our care and work alongside us with understanding, kindness, and support.

We are thankful for our colleagues — for teamwork, compassion, and looking out for one another. Together, we support not only our residents but each other, creating a place that feels like home.

Most of all, we are thankful to be part of a community built on respect, dignity, and care. It is a privilege to share this journey with you.

We gave Santa a little helping hand this morning by delivering presents to our wonderful residents 🎁🎅🏼 We feel so incredibly lucky to be able to share Christmas with our residents ❤️ We have had a wonderful Christmas Eve made extra special because it’s our lovely Rita’s birthday 🎈 This afternoon we enjoyed birthday cake whilst listening to Rita’s CD of choice which many of us remember having on our CD rack growing up!

A lovely start to the day at Springwood House; we arranged flowers for the tables 💐 Festive colours and wonderful scents filled the air 🎄 Everyone commented on how beautiful they looked and smelled as they made their way into the dining room for lunch ✨ Flower arranging is a firm favourite at Springwood House 🌷

A big thank you to our wonderful Ella who helped out - we can’t wait to spend more time with you as the seasons change and new gardening opportunities become possible 🌺

This afternoon, Springwood House Residential Home was delighted to welcome members of Holbrook St Michael’s Church and Holbrook Methodist Church, who joined us to sing carols for our residents, families and staff 🎶 ✨

It was wonderful to see residents singing along and choosing their favourite carols 🎄 A heartfelt thank you to all who came along and made the afternoon so special ✨🎵

🎄📖 A festive finish to a fantastic year with our Shared Poetry Group! 📖🎄

Every Friday throughout the year, the wonderful Shared Poetry Group spend their mornings with our residents reciting poetry, chatting about favourite writers, and sharing a love of all kinds of literature. These sessions greatly support our residents’ wellbeing and are always very well attended.

To round off a fantastic year, the group treated everyone to a pantomime! 🎭✨ Many residents joined in, and it was absolutely brilliant, filling the room with laughter and Christmas cheer.

Thank you to the Shared Poetry Group for bringing joy, creativity, and festive magic to Springwood House all year long ❤️

Yesterday Louise got everyone well and truly into the festive spirit with her fabulous Christmas glasses! 🎅🎁 Our residents absolutely love nail day and always look forward to her visits, so they can’t wait to welcome Louise back in the New Year.

🎄✨ Christmas Party at Springwood House ✨🎄

As promised, here are some lovely photos from our Christmas party afternoon at Springwood House!

Residents and staff enjoyed a wonderfully festive celebration, complete with a delicious buffet, Buck’s Fizz, our very own homemade mince pies, chocolate Yule log, raspberry roulade and plenty more festive treats. 🍰🥂

It was truly heart-warming to have everyone together to celebrate the festive season. We are so lucky to have such a close-knit family here at Springwood House, and days like this really remind us how special that is. ❤️

A huge thank you to Maricel for cooking up such a fantastic spread, Jess and Deb for helping with preparations, Ella for her support throughout the day, Karl for dressing up in a questionable Santa outfit 🎅🏼 eand to all of our wonderful care staff who go above and beyond to ensure every resident feels happy, valued and included.

What a perfect way to celebrate Christmas together! 🎅🎁
