Died - 22nd February 2025

In loving memory of a beautiful wife, sister, sister-in-law and friend who entered eternal life on 22nd February 2025.

May she rest in peace.

We didn’t know that morning that God would call your name. In life we loved you dearly, in death we do the same. It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone, for part of us went with you, the day God called you home. You left us beautiful memories, your love is still our guide and though we cannot see you, you are always at our side. Our family chain is broken and nothing seems the same, but as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.

Loved always and sorely missed.

Noella’s 1st Anniversary Mass will be held at St. Eugene's Cathedral on Sunday 22nd February at 7:00pm.

Gary Page

Died - 26th January 2026

Gary's family wish to express our sincere thanks and gratitude to all those who sympathised with us on our heartbreaking loss of our beloved husband, daddy, grandpa, brother and extended family members.

We offer our heartfelt thanks to everyone from near and far who called to the wake to pay their respects, who attended the funeral, watched via we**am, sent flowers, cards and messages of condolences.

A special word of thanks to the nurses, doctors, nursing assistants and support staff of ACU Altnagelvin for the care that they provided Gary with during his short illness, the compassion, care and kindness that they provided to Gary and our family will never be forgotten, you are all truly 'Earth Angels' and a credit to your profession.

Thankyou to Tanya and Anne the Marie Curie nurses and Catriona from The Foyle Hospice and NW Carers who looked after Gary with such dignity and respect and gave him and us the opportunity to spend our last precious days together at home.

A special thanks to Karen, Catriona, Niamh and Caroline for making sure everyone had a cup of tea and some food during the wake and for all those who brought food, we could not have done it without you all.

Thankyou to Fr. Lagan and Fr. Canny (Waterside) and Fr. Shaun and Fr. Paul (St Eugene's) for their spiritual guidance throughout Gary's short illness and during the wake.

To all those who participated in the Mass, especially Fr. Mongan and all those at Long Tower for the lovely sentiments during the Mass and to Charlene, Catriona, Nuala and Ramon for the absolutely beautiful singing & music throughout the mass.

Also a word of thanks to Don Boscos and Gary's Danderball buddies and friends from the Old Library Trust for the Guard of Honour.

As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgement as an expression of our deepest gratitude.

"May the road rise up to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,

Our Story

McClafferty are Derry's oldest and longest established independent funeral directors with over 115 years of experience in providing funeral services across our city and beyond. The funeral directors was established in 1904 and run by John L. McClafferty and his family until 1974 when it was sold to Mr. Jack McKeone whilst situated in Meenan Square in the Bogside; ownership then passed to Mr. Johnny Casey in 1987 who remained at the helm alongside his family for 32 years. McClafferty have handled arrangements for some of the biggest and most high profile funeral services the city has ever seen, including that of the 12 people killed in the Blitz Disaster at Messines Park in the 1940s. They also presided over the funerals of most of the 14 men killed on Bloody Sunday on 30th January 1972. Over the years McClafferty Funeral Directors have taken care of arrangements for many nuns from the city. The Constitution of the Poor Sisters of Nazareth decreed Sisters were to be buried in elm wood coffins, unpolished with tin mounts to echo the spirit of poverty of religious life. McClafferty produced such coffins and were themselves commissioned to do the funerals of the nuns from the Sisters of Nazareth Convent. The Good Shepherd Convent have also used the service of Mc Clafferty Funeral Directors over the years.

In March 2019 our new owner and proprietor Mr. Kieran Connor took the reigns of McClafferty Funeral Directors and has devoted himself to providing an authentic, personal & caring service to the families of Derry and beyond in their time of need.
