***2nd Anniversary***

Paul Hutton

Died - 19th April 2024

April comes with quiet rain, A softness in the air, And in its hush, your name returns, Like something always there.

Fifty-three too soon to go, Too young to fade away, A life that held both light and storm, And words we couldn’t say.

You laughed in ways that filled a room, A spark you couldn’t hide, And though the road grew hard at times, You carried love inside.

The world may speak of how you fell, Or paths that went astray, But we remember all you were, Not what was lost along the way.

God saw a weary heart, perhaps, A soul that needed rest, And called you home before we thought, The time could be so pressed.

So now each year, when April speaks, We pause, we breathe, we see, Not just the pain of losing you, But who you’ll always be.

Still loved, still missed, still part of us, In ways that won’t depart, For time may pass, and seasons turn, But you live in every heart.

Peace perfect peace.

With love always from Kerry and all your nieces & nephews.

***2nd Anniversary***

Don Brown

In loving memory of a dear husband, daddy and granda, who left this life on 19th April 2024.

In all the world we shall not find
A heart so wonderfully kind,
Although we smile and make no fuss,
No one misses him more than us,
And when old times we often recall,
That's when we miss him most of all.
Love you forever and always, x

Saint Martin pray for him.

Much loved and sadly missed by your loving wife Pauline, proud children Caroline and Andrew, and their beloved families.

Don will be remembered at Vigil Mass, Saturday 18th April at 6.30pm in St Mary's Church, Creggan.

We are incredibly proud of our highly esteemed colleague and friend Mrs. Catriona Gallagher on obtaining her full membership as a qualified embalmer with the Professional Embalmers Association Of Ireland. This achievement is of no mean feat and it is a testament of Catriona’s commitment and devotion to serve the bereaved and their families.

In Catriona’s own words;

“This achievement means so much to me, and I dedicate it with all my heart to my beloved mum, Frances. She has been my inspiration from the very beginning. I feel incredibly grateful to be part of an exceptional team at McClafferty Funeral Directors and to have had the privilege of training with the outstanding professionals at the Irish College of Funeral Directors and Embalmers (ICFDE)”

Heartfelt congratulations to you Catriona and every blessing for all the years of service ahead of you.

Our Story

McClafferty are Derry's oldest and longest established independent funeral directors with over 115 years of experience in providing funeral services across our city and beyond. The funeral directors was established in 1904 and run by John L. McClafferty and his family until 1974 when it was sold to Mr. Jack McKeone whilst situated in Meenan Square in the Bogside; ownership then passed to Mr. Johnny Casey in 1987 who remained at the helm alongside his family for 32 years. McClafferty have handled arrangements for some of the biggest and most high profile funeral services the city has ever seen, including that of the 12 people killed in the Blitz Disaster at Messines Park in the 1940s. They also presided over the funerals of most of the 14 men killed on Bloody Sunday on 30th January 1972. Over the years McClafferty Funeral Directors have taken care of arrangements for many nuns from the city. The Constitution of the Poor Sisters of Nazareth decreed Sisters were to be buried in elm wood coffins, unpolished with tin mounts to echo the spirit of poverty of religious life. McClafferty produced such coffins and were themselves commissioned to do the funerals of the nuns from the Sisters of Nazareth Convent. The Good Shepherd Convent have also used the service of Mc Clafferty Funeral Directors over the years.

In March 2019 our new owner and proprietor Mr. Kieran Connor took the reigns of McClafferty Funeral Directors and has devoted himself to providing an authentic, personal & caring service to the families of Derry and beyond in their time of need.
