🤰🏼 The difference 3 weeks can make in early pregnancy is mind blowing 😮

This lovely couple found out at only 7weeks that they were having twins.
At this point both fetal poles were measuring a little over 0.7cm each 📏 and two beautiful flickers of heartbeats were seen and recorded 💓💓

Fastforward 3 weeks and now look at the two rascals 😮 Both now measuring 3.7cm and 3.8cm respectively 💪🏻 and full of energy and movements.

Twice the love, twice the fun! 🥳🥳

⭐️ The face behind our New Breast Scanning Service ⭐️

We are delighted to welcome Donna Kerlin to our team here at Ultrasound Scan Clinic 💞 To many of you Donna won't need an introduction, but to those who don't know her, Donna is the first NHS Consultant Radiographer within Northern Ireland who has been working in Altnagelvin Hospitals Breast Screening Unit since 2007 💫 She has worked as a Clinical Specialist and Deputy Superintendent before being appointed as Consultant 🎓 She has undertaken numerous roles such as Industrial Relations Representative, Health and Safety Representative and Quality Assurance Radiographer to name a few.

Donna has a wealth of experience and expertise to her name including being a registered assessor with the college of radiographers as well as being a committe member of the Northern Ireland Breast Special Interest Group 🎗

We are delighted to have Donna join us and offer her incredible expertise and services to those who require it 💓

Donna will also be offering cyst aspirations with this service when deemed clinically appropriate and with patient's consent. We want to emphasise we will not be offering a biopsy service however if this is deemed clinically appropriate, this will be discussed and advised upon during your appointment 📈

This service will commence Monday 03rd November and will run every second Monday thereafter so no patient should have to wait over 14 calendar days for an appointment 🗓

📢 Announcement of New Service 📢

As October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month 🎗 we believe now is the appropriate time to announce that we are immensely proud to be offering a new private Breast Ultrasound Scanning and Reporting service here in our clinic from next month 🗓 This service is for women AND men aged between 18 and 40 years old and will also include aspiration services (with consent) when deemed clinically appropriate by our medical professional 🩺

More specific details will follow very soon.

⭐️ This is now more important than ever before ⭐️
The recent introduction of regionalisation of breast work across Northern Ireland has sadly resulted in much longer waiting times. For many, those waiting for a ‘red flag’ or 'urgent' breast clinic appointment can expect to wait up to 9 weeks which very likely may not even be appointed at their local breast centre (ie meaning they may well have to travel to Belfast or Craigavon etc). Those waiting for an appointment which has been triaged as 'routine' can expect to wait much longer unfortunately.

We are providing an easy access service locally which will hopefully provide reassurance for many 💫 especially those given a routine referral and those who suffer with known breast cysts and require repeated appointments. More importantly, for anyone with resultant significant findings, these will be discussed clearly and empathetically with 'what to do next advice'. 💞

Keep your eyes peeled for more additional information in the coming days and we would really appreciate it if all our Family, Friends and Followers could share this news far and wide so that those who might need our services can hopefully avail of them.

💫 Reducing the stress and worry that is naturally attached to an Early Pregnancy Ultrasound Scan 💫

Having been for Early Pregnancy Scans myself, I know all too well the mixture of emotions it can bring 🤢 Stress, worry, excitement all wrapped up in one!

That is why when we undertake any Pregnancy related Scan here at Ultrasound Scan Clinic, we endeavour (where possible) to show the heartbeat(s) as soon as is physically possible 💓

Those seconds can feel like days⏳️ to an anxious parent and we get that. We will then proceed to demonstrate all other visible anatomy 👣💋 depending on babies gestational age 📊

Anyone who has been with us before will know how much we prioritise Patient Comfort ✅️ Scan Information ✅️ and Reassurance ✅️ (where possible).

⭐️ September is Thyroid Cancer Awareness Month, and we want to raise awareness of the fact that thyroid cancer may occur even if thyroid lab tests are normal. In case of a thyroid disease, it is important to check the neck for thyroid nodules!

📌 Thyroid cancer is the most common malignancy of the endocrine system globally, representing 4% of all cancer diagnoses worldwide.

📌 Incidence has been rising all over the world, mostly due to the widespread use of ultrasound examination.

⭐️ Remember ⭐️

📌 While most thyroid nodules are benign, a small fraction might turn out to be malignant. It is important to monitor thyroid nodules in case of a thyroid disease, such as autoimmune thyroid disease.
