Council has officially endorsed the next steps for the transformative £100 million Templemore Strategic Leisure Project at a special council meeting today.

This landmark development will be a game-changer for health and wellness, featuring:

✅ Olympic-sized 50m Pool & Family Flumes

✅ 8-Court International Sports Hall

✅ State-of-the-art Fitness Suite & Wellness Spa

✅ 3G GAA & Soccer Pitches + Grass Pitches

✅ Renovated Running Track & Walking Trails

Crucially, the project is being designed to Passivhaus net-zero standards, making it a leader in sustainable civic infrastructure. 🌍

📅 Key Milestones to Watch:

Early 2026: Formal consultation on outdoor facilities.
Late 2026: Submission of full planning application.
2030/31: Target for the facility to be fully operational!
Mayor Cllr Ruairí McHugh says this project marks a "significant milestone" in delivering world-class leisure for our citizens.

15 years ago my youngest son was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes.
It is a tough, chronic condition to live with but we are so grateful that we live in this part of the world and get free treatment & insulin. God help people in other parts that aren’t so lucky 😞 .
I’m so proud of my Ciaran and all other T1 warriors out there - you are amazing! ❤️❤️❤️
