Everyday life can feel harder when your sight changes. That’s why our local support focuses on practical help, clear information, and taking things at your pace.

From our latest impact report, 90% of people told us they felt better able to manage day to day after working with Wiltshire Sight.

Support from our team here in Wiltshire can make a real difference. If you or a family member would like to know what support is available locally, you can contact us on 01380 723682.

We’ll be at Bath Christmas Market on Monday 8 December! You can find us on Orange Grove where our Fundraising Team will be running a large Christmas Tombola.

There are more than one hundred and fifty prizes up for grabs, including chocolates, hand cream gift sets, candles, soft toys, children’s books and lots of seasonal gifts.

Every ticket sold helps us continue our work with blind and partially sighted people in Bath and the surrounding areas.

If you’d like to know more about our local services, we’ll also have information you can take away.

We’d love to see you there.

Our Devizes shop has unveiled a beautiful new Christmas window, now on display at 36 The Market Place, Devizes, SN10 1JG.

This year’s scene has been lovingly handmade by our shop manager, who has brought back two familiar favourites. Harry Potter Mouse has turned his skills to interior decorating and Oliver Mouse has taken up baking, joining forces to create a warm and charming gingerbread-themed display.

If you are passing through Devizes over the winter, do take a moment to enjoy the window. And if you are looking for thoughtful pre loved gifts or decorations, our shop team will be happy to welcome you in. Every purchase helps us continue our work with blind and partially sighted people across Wiltshire.

If Devizes isn’t your nearest shop, you can also find us in Salisbury at 23 Catherine Street, SP1 2DQ, and in Trowbridge at 27B Fore Street, BA14 8EW.

Using a USB player for audiobooks and talking newspapers.

Keeping up with reading doesn’t have to stop when print becomes difficult. In this short video, our advisor Marc shows how a simple USB player can make it easy to listen to talking newspapers, audiobooks and other recordings sent to you on a USB stick.

We also offer our own letters and magazine in USB format if that suits you better, and we still run a CD audio library for those who prefer it. Many blind and partially sighted people use these options to stay connected with news, updates and the activities they enjoy.

If you’d like to find out more about equipment or formats that could make things easier day to day, contact Wiltshire Sight on 01380 723682 or info@wiltshiresight.org. We’re here to talk things through at your pace.

Trustees play a key role in guiding Wiltshire Sight, bringing together their skills and lived experiences to support local people who are blind or partially sighted.

Luke Hillman shared his journey to becoming a Trustee:
“I began as a Technical Volunteer with Wiltshire Sight and wanted to see other ways I could influence and shape its future. My Mum has been visually impaired all her life, so I’ve always been aware of the challenges people face. Knowing that I can help others have a better experience is extremely rewarding. As Trustees, we each bring our own experience and strengths, and together we navigate challenges and learn along the way about how an organisation delivers against its strategy.”

If you’d like to use your experience to help shape the future of our charity, find out more about volunteering as a Trustee:

This Trustees’ Week, we’re celebrating our brilliant Board of Trustees who give their time, experience and care to guide our work across Wiltshire.

They ensure we stay focused on what matters – providing support, advice and opportunities for blind and partially sighted people in our communities.

One of our Trustees, Gill Stephens, shared:
“I first became a volunteer for Wiltshire Sight about two years ago, sharing my experience of living with sight loss with others at our social hubs. I later joined the Board of Trustees, where I can bring a different perspective to the table, using my lived experience to inform the decision-making process.”

An enormous thank you to Carl, Gill, Robin, Luke and Nick for your commitment and leadership.
