Advent - 24 days of the benefits of Reflexology:
Dec 21st
Did you know that our sense of smell is one of the functions which develops before we are born? Hence our brain recognises smells very easily and in fact is very sensitive to smell. Smell plays a big part in our daily life, even if we are not aware of it - we all have our own scent, and our homes smell a particular way.
We all recognise numerous smells, some conjure up happy memories, and some may trigger negative ones. By avoiding the smells that may trigger us, and consciously surrounding ourselves with scents that we love and bring us joy, is one of the ways to address stress and anxiety management.
Essential oils are an effective aromatherapy tool to relieve the feelings of stress and anxiety,
as the airborne molecules stimulate our olfactory system, and immediately the brain via a variety of sensory receptors, interacting with the part of the brain which controls our heart rate, blood pressure, breathing and the stress responses, and these sensory data relay calming signals which help the body to relax, regulating and soothing our nervous system, easing the mind, and relieving any feelings of anxiety and stress.
So have fun this Christmas holiday and experiment which scent of the aromatic fruits, herbs and spices used in festive cooking and baking resonate with you the most and take them into the New Year! Most of all – Enjoy!
Please note! Essential oils are for topical use only!
Use 4 drops of essential oil of your choice in a room diffuser or a foot soak, 10 drops in a relaxing bath, or simply add a couple of drops to your body cream.
