Lest we forget!
Over the last few weeks our residents have been writing poetry and painting their own poppies in memory of those who have served in our armed forces.
Today the residents enjoyed watching together the service at the Senotaph in London. We followed the service with a print out of the order of service and observed the 2 minutes together and rose for the National Anthem.
Huge thanks to local RAF veteran Sarah Kerr who loaned us her uniform to display in our home.

We hope everyone had a wonderful Bonfire Night. We celebrated in the morning with our Guy Fawkes quiz, did you know Guy was actually Guido before he changed his name, we do now!
As the afternoon darker we had our bonfire singalong and glow stick party with old favourites from Kumbai Ah, What will we do with a drunken sailor, all washed down with a Hot Chocolate and a toffee or chocolate apple❤️🎆🎇

We welcomed our little ones back this week with an intergenerational Musical Moments with Julia and our residents. Music and children is just the best combination for lots of smiles😀

Happy Halloween from all of us at Valerian Court. 🎃🎃🎃🎃
Our residents voted to celebrate Halloween with a party with Halloween games including a fabulous game of spooky pass the parcel, goulish knockdown and wicked witch ring toss. Washed down with rotten mock tails and our delicious homemade Halloween cupcakes, a fabulous time was had by all.

Not 1, not 2, but 3 entertainers this week. Julia started us off with a Halloween themed Musical Moments, followed by our favourite Zumba guru STU Fitness and finally a visit from the very talented and funny magician Colin Adamson - Mind Magician and Hypnotist. 🪄✨
Looking forward to a fun filled week next week. Downland Dance performing on Tuesday, and Halloween fun for the rest of the week. 🎃

Harvest Festival celebrates the time of year when crops have been gathered from the field and people can reflect and show gratitude for the food they have. First of all thank you to all those who donated to Didcot Food Bank. Also to David from Didcot Church who gave a wonderful sermon about all we are to be thankful for. Especially the farmers at this time.
During the rest of last week we worked on our own planting the bulbs and biannuals in for next year. Thanks to our fabulous relatives, Debbie and Pete who volunteered to help get the plants in before the rain came, under the advice and tutelage of our knowledgeable residents.

Unfortunately our Harvest Festival has been postponed until next Wednesday. We enjoyed a lovely game of bingo instead. Congratulations to the winners.
