Matters of the heart 💖
You may not know that Cardiovascular disease is the largest killer of women globally. I know,I know, it’s love day but I allow me to interrupt our scheduled programming with an important message.

Emerging research suggests yoga practices can influence biomarkers of inflammation, the same ones linked to cardiovascular health.
Whilst it’s not entirely clear what aspect of yoga practise is more beneficial overall studies do conclude
improvement in stress resilience,
circulation,
reduction in reactive protein CRP is a warning sign for cardiovascular disease and metabolic dysfunction.

Of course there’s still a gender gap in prevention, awareness and timely intervention in heart attack.
Make sure you know the main symptoms of heart attack and you report concerns especially during pregnancy, after giving birth and in menopause. Check out bhf

protect your heart fiercely so that you can share the LOVE today and every day 💖

Just showing my face and I can’t wait to see yours.

What’s happening in class this week?
More activation, less distraction.
Connection,more passion.
All the ‘tion’s’
If you’re feeling tired and beaten down that’s okay, come and plug in - there’s plenty to go around.

If you’ve been to one of my classes this will sound familiar.
It took me a while (years)to find the right words to sign off with. Something to remind us all that we are indeed connected and armed to take on whatever comes our way.
Because whilst joining a yoga class should be a wonderful escape and a way to reset from overwhelming pressures, we all have to leave at some point.

When you step back into the world I want you to remember that you matter. To offer yourself the same grace you afford to others.
Women are not done, there are battles we have to fight every day.
The bow isn’t just about respect; it’s about letting go of the tension, offering a gentle surrender, and creating space for peace. It’s a soft way to close the chapter, both with others and within ourselves.

Obviously if it’s lunchtime we take a quick nap in Savasana and have a beautiful rest of the day 🙏

The closing of Winter but not yet Spring
Seeing these first cheerful snowdrops are like a baby’s first smile or child’s pose after your third vinyasa, a very welcome sight!
We know the turning of the season is still a few months off but celebrating the potential of Spring has been something communities have marked for generations such as the festival of Imbolc.
I particularly love that Imbolc is Irish for ‘in the belly’ A reminder that brighter days are coming.

So perhaps you will join me over the next few days in slowing down to reflect. take pause to notice the small buds on the trees and the first blooms of the year.
Not because we have arrived but because we’re on our way.
We gently cleanse and soften the first layers of soil.Warming the ground giving it a knock
Continuing to tend the fire until the warmth of the sun returns.

I feel it too. The stiffening of tension.
It’s a protective instinct. We stiffen and bristle. Hardened by life’s pressures and a broken world
Sometimes paralysed by helplessness hindering any progress.

Hold on to the moments in between. Strength and effort punctuated by ease can create a force great enough to fight back.

Embarrassing my children in public since 2016…

I heard we were sharing life 10 years ago. This is the one and only photo I have of myself from that year. The rest were of day trips, Peppa pig world, birthday cakes and sandcastles. Clearly life was busy and full so I had to get my yoga practice in somehow.

I’m pretty sure this is what the grown ups meant when they said “I’m on my last nerve”
Life is demanding and we need to build a resilient nervous system in order to navigate all of its ups and downs.
Taking control of how you respond and walk through your day means knowing how to improve this very important group of nerves.
As always hurray for yoga 💜
