Sunday 22nd Feb 2026- “Emerging from winter” Join us on this half day retreat at The K.I.T.E. Centre as we celebrate the movement from the darkness of winter, towards the brightness of Spring.

It’s this time of year when we start to connect again to the world around us, to nature and to each other. We start to notice the possibilities as we start to gently unfurl from 'hibernation.'

This practice will bring space and balance into the body and mind, supporting us to move from 'wintering' into the new life around us that is starting to emerge (or at least thinking about it!) In the first session, expect guided meditation, pranayama (breathing practice), asana (movement/posture practice).

Then we break for tea and a tasty treat.

In the second half we will explore somatic movements, helping us to reacquaint ourselves with body and mind. We will finish with a guided relaxation to consolidate and assimilate the practices of the day.

Can't wait to welcome you!

Alice

Feeling tight, stiff and achey? Curious about how mindfulness may help you to live with more ease? This is what this hour long session is all about.

Yin yoga is physically chilled, we're mainly lying or sitting on the mat. But in such a way to add spaciousness to the body. These stretches allow certain soft tissues such as fascia to ‘stretch’ resulting in reduction of tight spots and better joint health.

Positions gently held for 3-5minutes, creating the ideal opportunity to explore concepts of mindfulness. These ideas, such as ‘letting go’, ‘curiosity’, 'patience’ are fostered and practised on the yoga mat, but really translate off the mat too. Furthermore, using the sensations in the body as an anchor, it is an opportunity to explore our connection with our body and our mind. This in turn allows is to respond to situations mindfully, rather than just reacting; it also allows a deeper understanding of our body, which really helps when preventing or managing injury, discomfort and recovery.

This type of yoga is especially useful for the over 30’s; athletes who have pushed their bodies a lot over the years and those who would like to meditate or give it a go but don’t like the thought of long periods of sitting…

Please bring a mat if you have one, a cushion and a blanket (there will be limited mats available to borrow :-)

Sessions held at our peaceful space at Lochussie, just near Dingwall, the .highland

Alice

Calling men & women of all ages and levels of fitness who want to feel stronger, and better able to cope with stress. 6 week course starts NEXT WEEK!

As a Physiotherapist, I know the importance of physical activity at ALL stages of life. We need weights for muscle and bone strength; we need to regularly get a little out of breath for the health of the heart and brain. Being fit in the body helps us to recover quicker from injury; sleep better; feel happier and more motivated; it improves immune function; improves mood; boosts energy level; in women it goes some way to help protect against osteoporosis and some menopausal symptoms, the list goes on.

We also know that somatic exercises, such as breathing exercises, meditation and certain specific movements done in a consistent way helps to support emotional regulation, reduce stress and anxiety; improve cognitive function, increase confidence and body awareness...

However, I am also a busy parent & finding the time to actually push myself to do all the things I know I need to do to maintain/improve my overall fitness in any consistent way can be a battle. This is why I have put together SOMATIC CIRCUITS. The main aims are to raise the heart rate, strengthen muscles, strengthen bones and regulate the nervous system, and doing it with others - all the things I know I need to do regularly to feel good now, but also for the health of future me.

On the face of it, it looks like any normal circuit training, there are a number of 'stations' you spend a couple of minutes doing the activity at that station, before moving onto the next station. However, in somatic circuits we oscillate between physical body, brain and somatic exercises (somatic being where the body and mind meet). This allows recovery between the more physical activities, but a chance to increase the resilience and flexibility of the nervous system and increase our body awareness, so our ability to cope with the physical and mental stresses of life

I invite you to join me in this pioneering project and see if it makes a difference to your health.

COURSES START Mon 2nd Feb and Fri 6th Feb, both at 9.45am.

Thanks,
Alice

Glimmers are micro moments of joy, they spark a sense of connection, safety, maybe contentment.

There are moments that all to often get squeezed out by our busy lives. We're juggling so many things, planning so many things and have been trained to achieve, that so often we miss the moments of meaning and enrichment in life.

The ironic thing is, that when we make the space to see the 'glimmers' not only does life become more fulfilling, it feels more spacious too. Well, that's my experience.

Glimmers, are just that, a micro-moment of joy, of connection to the wonders of the world in just that moment: The taste of that first cup of tea; noticing the colours in the sky; the smell of freshly baked bread; a smile shared with a stranger.

Our brains are wired to have a negativity bias, so it can be easier to see that micro moments that p**s us off, that anger us that make us sad or powerless. But then our life becomes made up of a tapestry of annoyance and negativity which isn't fun.

Glimmers take a moment, but can brighten up your life.

We need to move away from the idea that joy can only be found in the big things, the groundbreaking things, when most often it's the tiny things that all too often get missed in the business to life.

I'd love to hear your "glimmers" from this week. So please comment below and together we can demystify joy! ✨️✨️✨️

Yey!

What has given you joy today?

Somethings it's an almost imperceptible glimmer, other times like a tsunami. But each day there are moments, even if fleeting, which hold connection, beauty, life, relief, absence of pain, love. Moments that give us joy.

I'd love to hear about your 'moment of joy' today :-)
