As part of our “Celebrating Cultures” programme today we celebrated Day of the Souls (Dia de los mu***os) a Mexican festival which embraces and honours loved ones who have passed away. The festivals origins trace back thousands of years to the Aztec and other indigenous cultures in Mesoamerica.
As it states in ancient history we have created for the 4th year our ofrenda Altar which includes the four elements of nature: Earth, wind, water, and fire, pictures of the person we would like to commemorate, favourite food and drinks, personal items, along with symbolic offerings such as marigolds in an orange colour to guide the spirits, candles to light their way, a dish of salt for purification, and water to quench their thirst.
Those living with us, as well as members of our team have made this not only a celebration but a tradition to be carried out every year, bringing moments of reminiscing and tears of joy! ❤️
