Please find the FAQ's specifically for Schoolhouse patients
1) I have a cough or a fever and am worried I might have coronavirus, what do I do?
a. Seek advice from the NHS 111 service
2) I don’t have any coronavirus symptoms, but I need some medical help - who do I contact?
a. Please use the AskmyGP system – a team of doctors, nurses and support staff will be on duty to respond by message, phone call or video consultation.
b. Telephone through to your local Surgery
c. NHS 111 – should you feel you need help outside Surgery hours.
3) Why on earth are you not seeing patients in Disley?
a. We want to protect all our patients and staff – we cannot have patients with potential coronavirus symptoms mixing with other patients who maybe poorly for some other reason. This could be disastrous. Hence we are trying to allocate patients to be seen in specific sites according to their symptoms.
b. Disley isn’t being used for face to face consultations because the lay out is not appropriate for infection control purposes.
c. We do not have the resources – due to increased demand and staff members self-isolating - to staff every building safely.
4) I have no transport to get to Poynton or Bollington – what shall I do?
a. At this unprecedented time is evident that community spirit is thriving – ask neighbours, friends or family for a lift!
b. Can the Good Neighbours team or the community bus service help? (although please do NOT contact them if you have a fever or a cough!)
5) If all (non-coronavirus) face to face consultations are taking place in just two sites will this lead to longer waiting times?
a. No, we are currently dealing with the vast majority of concerns via messages or on the telephone and do not currently anticipate long waiting times
6) I only want to see my specific doctor – how can this be arranged?
a. Please make the request clear on AskmyGP – although, please bear in mind that your GP may well not be available, for example seeing coronavirus patients or may have personal health reasons why they cannot perform face to face consultations at this time. Please be prepared to be flexible – Middlewood is only staffed by excellent professionals, all of whom your regular GP does trusts with your health
7) Will my routine annual check-up be cancelled?
a. During this time routine check-ups are likely to be postponed.
8) Might some Middlewood surgeries close?
a. The changes we are making are designed to maintain and strength General Practice in this area.
b. Once the whole situation has settled down, it is everyone’s intention for services to be restored at all sites
9) I am desperate to help my doctor’s Surgery in any way I can – what shall I do?
a. Follow the national guidance on the coronavirus
b. Do not make contact with the Surgery unless you feel that it is essential
c. Look out for your family, friends and neighbours and stay safe
