We’ve just got back from a visit to Russell’s International Circus over on the green. It really was an excellent show. It’s the first circus I’ve been to in years, but all the kids and the grown ups enjoyed it. Would definitely recommend https://www.facebook.com/russellscircusfanclub

Congratulations to Janice, our Norfolk County Champ at 100m sprint. After a recent hamstring strain, Janice has got back on track. With her dedication to her rehab she is back in her race winning form. Well done Janice!

Well done to my friend and old colleague..only went and won it!!

It’s a double award nomination for , in tonight’s prestigious Chief Allied Health Professions (AHP) Officer’s Awards.

Vicki Johnson, Lead Research Associate for Complex Interventions and Physiotherapist (pictured), plus recently-retired Jacqui Troughton, Senior Research Dietitian from the Leicester Diabetes Centre are part of the team shortlisted in the ‘Public Health Champion’ and ‘AHP Research Impact’ categories.

The duo collaborated with Loughborough University to develop the Structured Health Intervention For Truckers (SHIFT) programme - a physical activity and healthy lifestyle programme for HGV drivers, aiming to help them increase their daily step-count and decrease their weight.

Vicki said: “This shows how AHPs can play a vital role in leading research. We’re looking forward to seeing the programme go from strength to strength.”

World Mental Health Day.

This is how I feel about 97.5% of my day. Frantically trying to keep plates spinning. For many reasons life can feel overwhelming at times. And we would do well to remember, not only on world mental health day, but every day, to check in on one another. Be kind. Have patience. Offer encouragement. Listen. REALLY LISTEN. And keep trying to see the big picture, and what we really value in life.

Now I just have to listen to my own advice…

Meniscal tear is probably one of the most knee injuries I see. This video of keyhole surgery shows you what a damaged meniscus can look like inside. Did you spot the lack of bleeding during the procedure? Poor blood supply to the tissue is one of the things can make meniscal injury recovery tricky. Physiotherapy, either with or without having surgery can really improve your outcome.

Hopefully some good news for local people. I think being physically active is so important for the prevention and management of many musculoskeletal complaints. Let’s hope this provides more support for people to be able to increase their physical activity 😀
